Want to let you know I've listened to several Dark Star Jam tracks and yours is the first to actually get the right drum groove. It makes a huge difference. Thank You!

Ditto this. This one swings, rather than being a straight 4. I know there are some gigs where they worked into a straight 4, like at Veneta 8/27/72, but that was after 8 minutes of this tempo and feel.

This is so tremendous! Thank you so much. This more than ANYTHING else has improved my playing tremendously. I'm starting to clnnect all the dots with this A mixolydian= D major = the 1st position of E minor pentatonic=D major pentatonic / G major pentatonic. I'm up and down the whole fretboard now with this and feeling really great about it. Thankyou so much, This is the most beneficial lesson I've ever come across and not a word said. Amazing! Thank you Thank you Thank You HighCountryGuitar !!!

I was thrown off at first by the subtle differences from the actual DS progression, yet after doing this a few times, I really dig this backtrack. yea mon!

I just wanted to say this is really nice. I am having a blast jamming out endlessly to this and some of your other tracks. Great stuff, and I need to try more of these. Thanks for the effort and seriously tasteful arrangements. I'm almost tempted to make a youtube vid playing with your background track just for fun!

what are the chords, is it A to G?
@HighCountryGuitar3 жыл бұрын
I think I played the rhythm guitar as A - A - G - Asus4, all while droning the open A string as a bass note.

speed it up to 1.25 and its the actual proper speed of the original version
@jwright46862 жыл бұрын
wait...what "original version??" There is no set way to play Dark Star. There is no set tempo. There is no chord progression. Every...Single..Time... they played it, it was different, and open to the interpretation of 5 (or 6) different musicians on 5 different instruments.

It’s in Dmaj Pentatonic, Not AMaj. He Pentatonic Fingering is on the wrong spot I believe.
@HighCountryGuitar4 жыл бұрын
D major pentatonic would not be wrong, and in fact G major pent. works pretty well too. But the song is in A, and A major pentatonic has all of the chord tones of A in it. Only drawback is that it might make it sound like Dickey Betts playing Dark Star, lol.
