The reason Kirito knew about an invasion was because Cardinal told him that an invasion was programmed to happen in the code of the Underworld as a Final Load Test. Even without Gabriel and Vassago an invasion would have started but now there aren’t people to advocate for peace as there would have been originally.

Gabriel is using on of four God Accounts. Vector is the God that they called Kirito the child of. As in people who loose their memory and calling are called Children of Vector. Vector is also the "strongest of the four gods.

The Underworld is different from SAO and GGO. Those 2 are just games. The Underworld is a world created with artificial intelligences. The NPCs in SAO and GGO were just mindless game props. Similar to characters in our games today. The Underworld AI actually have their own lives. They feel, have emotions, have daily routines. Stuff like that.

In the underworld what we call AI are just copies of human souls that were the adam and eve. Now all the souls there are just children of those copies. Like teleporter theory from trek, evil twin or copy lost, but that having kids. Those underworld kids, even the goblin with human souls, would be human as you can get if they were flesh and blood. SAO cardinal OG system their AI was different from the rest of the seeds. So Yui and even the 'gods episode' were showing how they evolving themselves. Both AI able to reach their goals near the same time, SAO being first. Scary thought was the church pontiff defeated almost broke free into our world. Now we dropped our sickness in their world as the emperor of the dark.

You should read the SAO Alicization Spin-off written by the Author, an alternative timeline with Eugeo, Lipia, Shasta (the dude from this EP) and everyone else are alive and Kirito and Eugeo are working toward peace with others and Lipia. And all this Alternative timeline happened thanks to a giant crab attacking the nobles dude in academy so Kirito & Eugeo never got arrested and everything changed coz of that.

Cardinal informed Kirito about the impending invasion. There were walls that kept the majority of the Dark Territory at bay, but they are literally scheduled to collapse once its time limit reaches zero. From what I heard from light novel readers, the invasion is supposed to be a test if the Human Empire can survive. Thanks to Quinella's intervention and lust for power, she effectively stagnated the Human's strength with exemption being her Integrity Knights.

Please watch Fate Series one day the best watch order IMO is 1. Fate/Zero 2. Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works 3. Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel Trilogy Those are the only shows you need to watch in order the rest besides the original Fate/Stay night are spin-offs the reason you shouldn’t watch the OG is because it was botched
