A Canadian horror-comedy with practical effects and fight scenes? Sounds like something Brandon Tenold should review!

I've heard of Psycho Goreman but never knew about the alien flesh sword or the Chainsawman fanart. You also had the most effective argument of Guyver 1 being better than Dark Hero.

Hakkaider is favorite Tokusatsu movie after the two Zeiram movies. He's got the best shotgun ever. I'm looking forward to that next video. Mutants and giant monsters are an unbeatable combination

Super happy to see PG on your list, it quickly became one of my favorites too. I would love a sequel or maybe even prequel that goes more into PG's backstory or just overall world building, because I think the lore was super well written and interesting.

Curious if you have ever seen the Kerberos Saga trilogy (The Red Spectacles, StrayDog: Kerberos Panzer Cops, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade) or Jin-Roh’s recent South Korean re-interpretation, Illang: The Wolf Brigade. While not nearly as over-the-top as the entries in this video, they are definitely dark & gritty, and Stray Dog & Jin-Roh used to be required viewing in the early toku & anime fandoms respectively 😎

Thank you,I had the same thoughts about the second guyver movie and enjoy the fight scenes but I love watching the first movie more than the second!!!

I think the reason for the Zoenoids not being as high quality in the sequel is due to the suits having to be more stunt friendly because of the moves they had to do.

I actually love the non flashy style of japanese fight choreography. Nice contrast to hong kong style fights. Which i love. I like them for their own individual identities.

One of my favorite films is tetsuo the Iron man, although I am not sure hiw much it counts as tokusatsu. You could try electric Buddha 80000 volts.

Psycho Goreman would've been a great TV series if it wasn't a movie. It's probably the best power rangers inspired work in a long time

Psycho Goreman reminds me of the cartoon "The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy," two kids befriend/enslave a death entity and go on wacky adventures.

Give and take with the guyver movies(though i love both). I actually think the campy tone while a bit much is consistent with the kinda film they made. By the way the second movie is long. For a 90s dtv film. 2 hours +. It gets ambitious with the back story tho the lowbudget unengaging actors kinda hurt it but by the time the big fights come in the movie gets awesome again. My favorite steve wang film tho is not tokusatsu or fx related. Drive(1997) is my favorite hk style american action movie. Worth watching.
@dugonman8360 Жыл бұрын
It's not the campy tone that bothers me so much as it went against Steve Wants vision for the film. Steve wanted to make a faithful adaptation while Brian Yunza, the producer, wanted a TMNT knock-off. He was the one who demanded more campiness and jokey slapstick shoved in there while Steve was trying his hardest to make the film he always wanted to make. But drive is a pretty freaking phenomenal films nonetheless.

Eh, i still prefer Dark Hero over the first. Not only was David Hayter a much better actor than Jack Armstrong in every way possible, but the tone was much more consistent rather than previous film where it tried to be a comedy, a dark and disturbing horror movie, or a cheesy campy superhero movie. That and the fight scenes in the first were just awful in my opinion. They’re way too slow, the choreography is very poor, and they're so long. The fight in the warehouse for example is like, 4 minutes long. The final fight especially, while has a cool looking monster, just has the Guyver running around while the monster slowly swipes his claws at him. The film also completely wastes Mark Hamil. Not only does the DVD and poster lie to you by putting Mark Hamil on the front as well as making it look like he’s gonna be the Guyver, but he does nothing in the film. He’s just a CIA agent trying to investigate Cronos and thats literally it. And if that wasn’t bad enough, he gets turned into a bug monster at the end of the movie and just dies immediately. Way to waste a great actor movie, god and i thought his role in the Last Jedi was bad. By comparison, Dark Hero is not only passed better, but it’s also acted better, the fight choreography is better, as are the fights since they don’t overstay their welcome, and the plot is better. Look if you like the first one good for you, but I honestly do understand why its gotten the negative reception over the years and in all honestly I do think it deserves allot of that negative reception. Yeah Dark Hero doesn’t have as good looking monsters, heck they even had to re use some suits from the first film. But i can forgive that since not only was Dark Hero working with a MUCH lower budget than first film, but it was also released straight to video while the first film was in theaters. I’m not one of those people who says that the film is better just because it had blood and guts spraying everywhere, but because the sequel corrects allot of mistakes the first film had and had a much more interesting story and characters.

The first Guyve movie is terrible. At least the second one has one or two good fights due tô Koichi Sakamoto. Both movies are sleep indulcing or just terrible experiences overall. The sound effects if not generic are few and used for punches and kicks equally. The second movie uses a jet sound effect for Every move of the guyver. The music is so generic that it even loops wrong.
