I create ambiences with original music. My favorite genre is fantasy, but I sometimes venture into sci-fi, horror, history, or plain (but beautiful) natural settings.
I am heavily inspired by books, as I am a total bookworm, by PC games and DnD which my husband loves and talks about. I love long cross-country hikes, that feel like a huge adventure and you can see it in the number of traveling ambiences I produce 😀
***
You are at the right place if you are looking for ambient music for reading, writing, or work, or background music for DnD.

It's weird how I've grown accustomed to needing a specific background sound to different tasks like studying, reading a book, taking an exam, and taking notes.

I listen to all kinds of different ambient videos with every book I read. I'm always able to find something that matches. Right now I'm reading Strange Folk by Alli Dyer. It's a witchy story set inca small country town in Appalachia. Generations of a family .. lots of history and complicated dynamics... "magic" based off the land. This video is perfect for it.

O’ wise witch of the woods, she who foretold of the end to the hanged one with one eye and sees the web of Wyrd as is it sewn, I have traveled far and wide to learn of your wild magicks. Teach me the ways of the wood, mist, and stone. Help me to learn the language of fang, claw, and tusk. Cure me of the disease of the mundane and reveal me the realms between our eyes have been blinded to. I am yours to mold into your image. I hail to you, witch of the woods! ~ A prayer to Gullveig-Heidr

This is so good. The sound is visceral. You can feel the wind through the trees and smell the moss and bark. You can feel the emotion, as well. There's a feeling of isolation and discomfort. You're no longer safe this far out. It's unfamiliar and haunting. I love it.

The sounds of birds have long gone quite. There is rustling in the forest, just beyond sight, maybe even following me. The temperature dropping and the fog settling in as the day approaches dusk. The rustling noise in the woods has gotten closer, stopping and looking between the trees, ferns, and brambles, still unable to locate whatever it is... I am not supposed to be here.

@@MartiasMuses Having been so badly ripped off by comics and Hollywood for the last 40 years, his stories might not evoke the same sanity-crippling horror as they did back in the 20s & 30s, but you'd be missing out if you didn't curl up with a few of his tales. Please shout out if you'd care for any recommendations!

@@atlanteum which short story is the best to start with?
@atlanteum
@atlanteum 2 күн бұрын
@@MartiasMuses OhBoyOhBoy... where to start!? I would begin with a few of his shorter tales which hint at the larger, darker picture painted throughout his collected works. Two of my all-time favorites are "From Beyond" and "The Festival," which really establish the Lovecraft tone. Maybe follow those up with "The Statement of Randolph Carter," "Dagon," "The Nameless City," "Cool Air" or "The Temple." If those draw you in, then definitely move onto the classics, like "The Shadow Over Innsmouth," "At the Mountains of Madness," "The Dunwich Horror" and, of course, his signature work - "The Call of Cthulhu." Interestingly, Lovecraft's fiction represents one of the first "shared worlds" of literature. He openly encouraged his friends and others to create stories that take place alongside his own. As a result, we have "Lovecraftian" tales from the likes of Robert Bloch, Fritz Leiber and even Robert E. Howard, among others. Yes... Conan the Barbarian lives in the same world as The Cthulhu Mythos! While I would strongly recommend reading his works IN PRINT [countless editions are available], as computer screens just can't replace the experience of curling up with a good book, you can find his collected works online at -www.hplovecraft.com/writings/texts/ - where you can also learn more about the life of the author and his impact on horror and popular culture.
