Heftiges Teil! Super Aufnahmen, Ton und Bildquali kommen perfekt, der integrierte Beamer ist nice, der hat ne grosse Reichweite und trotzdem klare Bilder, Bedienung auch verständlich. Update nach 5 Monaten: Zwei Sachen würde ich als störend bezeichnen. Wenn man ein Video aufzeichnet, das länger als 12.30 min. geht, macht diese Handycam alle 12.30 min. von selbst einen Schnitt. Zweitens lässt sich das Ausgabeformat nicht direkt ändern. Alle Videos werden in .mts aufgenommen. Da wir einen Fernseher haben, der dieses Format nicht unterstützt, muss ich die Videos im nachhinein konvertieren um sie am Fernseher zu schauen. Wäre zeitsparend, wenn man gleich in der Handycam auf mp4 oder so wechseln könnte. Ich empfehle die Handycam trotzdem weiterhin. Wollte aber auf diese zwei Sachen aufmerksam machen.

I just purchased the PJ710 and PJ650, The sony pj810 seems closest to the PJ650 in specs. I chose the 710 becasue it does have the night shot, Carl Zeiss lenz, and it has the high speed zoom all that both the 650 and 810 lacks.

Your right, a lot of the top features form the last generation model is not available and lacking which was a huge disappointment. Am considering the 4k model handy cam so this for now is okay but I still think my canon 70D kills it in quality in everyday with exchangeable lens.

@ MrLeKin - Not really, I think your better off getting the lower model from this one which is much better and has actual night vision so think you should instead go for the Sony HDR-PJ790VE which pretty much is the same but zoom is 10 optical zoom instead of 20 on the J810e.

MrLeKin wow that seems expensive but i believe they re roughly the same price and the pj790 has a good 96gb memory build in and night vision!

at 7.16 you say you can turn the night mode on. However earlier you said that this model does not have night mode? Can you please clarify if this camera does have nigh mode (night vision) ??? Or not? Thank you

it doesn't have night vision, it has this night mode setting that pretty much increase visibility in dark condition only, its like your increasing your iso.

Hi Elias, Great review " a real good job" well done, I have this camera. Im not at Techie at all so may I ask, what would the benefits be for me to purchase a lens Hood ( the jvc you had purchased)? I record mostly my golfswing in daytime, so wouldnt have issue with flash as mentioned. Best Regards,

to behonest I don't use the lens hood anymore and the reason has been because it would get my way while recording during both the day and night shots. If you were to zoom out to the widest, any movement that was made the moving lens would always pick up the edges of the lens hood, unless I would zone in to avoid it displaying. That was for me but benefits of the lens hood is reducing the amount of vignetting you could get in recording or just to plainly block sunlight or other direct source of light, however I don't thinks its really so beneficial on this lens of this cam the is a really wide angel.

one year on is this still a good buy ? at £500 thats my budjet! or would you still favor the pj790ve? which is currently expensive in u.k. or something else..........what are your thoughts on the projector it doesn't seem to get mentioned or maybe i missed it

+alistair young - No its not for many reasons.. 1. been the material on the camera started to fall apart, it started peeling off and you had a camera with white bits of materials where the hand grip was on the camera... 2. I don't see the point of the projector, you really don't use it to be honest, its like 3d where you have it there but its a must use. 3. The battery life is very short... 4. It does record at 60fps and the last reason.. its not great at night, my dslr canon 70d is better even with a f4 aperture, the night vision should have been on this camera. I would personally look at buying something else, the panasonic have some quality ones and i believe some even record 4k and I think your budget would fit them but overall its up to you but for me this didn't work out in the long run.

+alistair young As far as I am aware this model (PJ790VE) has officially been discontinued for quite some time in the UK. SLRHut still list it on their website but it's an import and the price is a staggering £1,699.99. I wish I had bought this model myself when it was current as it has a larger sensor and body. I think Sony's idea to drop this model is so that they can foist the AX/AXP 33 on us. I personally don't need the grief and aggravation of 4K.

+Yann S it really depends on the software your using but on the camera best settings is anything that is 720p - 1080p recording with 30fps or whats best is 60fps. Just make sure your settings is mpega 4 or avchd 2.0

+Frk.Badeby - Oh no way can this come near the sony ax33.. they both are about the same price but the ax33 is 4k and it records at full 60fps where as this one only does 50fps.

How do I record in 1080p? I have all the highest settings selected, but when I transferred the video to my phone it had only recorded in 720p.

by going into the settings where you have image quality size, you there are able to select the recording quality you want.. go to 7.27min on the vid and pause..go into the image quality/size.

Agoraphobic News I would check out the panasonic rang which is similar in size and have some pretty good features and also 4k recording. Check the the Panasonic HC-VX870EB.
