God Saikou is such a tragic character, you gotta wonder, is seeing his reincarnated spouse the _only_ reason he kept himself alive? Because if that was the case he would've let himself die a long time ago so he could reincarnate with them again and leave all that trauma behind. But he doesn't. Could the reason that Saikou was the sole surviver be that he was away from the village at the time? He probably feels guilt. Guilty over not _being_ there- if he was there he could've save them (regardless if that's true or not). What better way to punish himself than to keep on living despite everything else?
