This really shows how different Sonic and Shadow are, when Sonic arrived, the first thing he did was explore, embrace the world he's in, he saw it and the first thing he decided was to protect it, even when he saw Shadow for the first time, he saw him as a friend (especially since Sonic's FIRST WORDS were literally what Shadow Said to him). While Shadow wanted revenge for what happened, since he was more aware of what happened at the time, really wish SEGA didn't scrap this iteration of Sonic and Shadow's origins

The only thing we get about Sonics backstory is in the Sonic Bible which has Sonic looking very different since he is not blue and looks more like a real hedgehog with cartoony characteristics and appearance just imagine sonic being brown and having many quills behind him like a normal hedgehog. He met a doctor called ovi kintobur which is opposite of Ivo Robotnik and together, they work in the lab while Sonic uses a treadmil to increase his already massive speed and he eventually breaks the sound and light barrier. There was a fusion machine which I forgot the name of and they were experimenting with the chaos emeralds and at the time they only had 6 which is shown in Sonic 1 with only 6 emeralds being available. The emeralds had every evil thing on earth and something messed up and Sonic accidentally activated the machine and Kintobur fused with all the evil from the emeralds and a boiled egg which reversed his name to robotnik aka eggman. There is other stuff like Underground and some other stuff but this one seems to be the main one maybe im not too sure.

However, there is no evidence relating to the identity of his creator, so Gerald Robotnik isn't out of the question. But that also means it could be almost anyone else. 😅

This is actually canon tho, however they changed storyline a bit in STH 2005 and now Shadow remains as an ultimate lifeform.

I am not the most knowledgeable about the games but I can say that the theory does not have much support in SA2 or at least not completely because the only thing that is mentioned is that Sonic is the ultimate lifeform but no clues are ever given that Sonic was created by Gerald. I think many people go with the theory that Gerald was based on the murals that prophesy Super Sonic. In other media, the theory has more weight like Sonic x, with the simple idea that María released two capsules and leaving the doubt as to whether Sonic is an artificial creation.

What if Sonic 3 takes this up? In the end being a different version of the games and being its own story we could have something similar I've seen this idea on redditt where both Shadow and Sonic are created by Gerald and Maria launches two capsules where Shadow and Sonic are, maybe Longclaw on a visit to Earth (considering that the master emerald is there) and by chance finds Sonic and has taken care of him ever since.

Yeah, we don't really know Sonic's Origins, even in the main game timeline. There are so many questions about his origins like: "who are his parents?", "does he even have parents?", "how did he get his powers?", "was he born with his speed?", or "was he always a hero or did he have to go through his own 'hero origin arc'?".

I believe in the first movie, sonic said that he was born with his powers. I would recommend reading the sonic movie books, 1 and 2 for the lore. The second book had extra lore on sonic a little bit. I do agree that there has to be some correlation to sonic origins maybe movie 3. Originally in SA2, it would imply that sonic was created by General and therefore was in the second capsule. There are hints in the game when playing shadow, he has a quote as he talks about sonic, “That blue hedgehog is something else”. This made not be the exact quote, but I believe it made shadow questioned on who or what sonic is. This was after sonic used a fake chaos emerald to escape the capsule. Shadow mentions that he cannot use a fake chaos emerald, but the fact that sonic used chaos control for the first time is a mystery. I have my own theory on sonic. Obviously I am separating game and movie, but they may have correlation if it makes sense as a whole for the lore. In movie 2 we have, “Thoughts turn into power”. Let that sink in. Any thoughts can turn into power. Is there a possibility that someone had a ahold of the master emerald or chaos emerald and created sonic that way? It would explain his powers, the emeralds having a natural attraction to him, and not having parents. Any other thoughts?

@@BlueWolfia hmm, it's possible considering that Sonic seems to have some connection to the emerald mestra (although this raises questions about who could have created her and for what purpose). Furthermore, the limits of the emerald's power were never mentioned, I prefer to think that it is only capable of creating things but cannot create living beings or revive dead people, it takes away the weight of what may be at stake. - I don't know much about the books beyond what other users mentioned and where I found this theory. - I just found it a very interesting theory that there is a deeper connection between Sonic and Shadow, in addition to explaining how similar and different they are from each other, I don't know XD it's fun to think about such a scenario. - With the games I have seen the theory that Sonic is the true, natural, ultimate life form, while Shadow is the artificial, ultimate life form, considering the murals that prophesy Super Sonic and of which Gerald was able to find, of course the movies will have a different configuration considering the changes that have been made and the justification for why they are both similar to each other will be different

This makes sense in the game, I also agree we would have see movie 3 to see what would change or what was added and how it affects sonic origins. For the movie, I would laugh if all of a sudden they claim that shadow and sonic are brothers. It would be very interesting. XD For the chaos emerald and master emerald limits, I do know that the master emerald at least in the games or sonic x can bring visions and bring people from another planet or through it. The chaos emeralds brought sonic back when he was (I guess) dead in sonic 06. That is why I think it could be possibly that sonic could have been created by chaos emerald or master emerald. Sonic's power is unnatural at least in the movies so far. The Knuckles show kind of got my attention when 'the buyer' had a several hairs from knuckles and wanted more from him. When one of the agents had the glove, I noticed the power meter was halfway down. I took them as clues, but that is all that we see. For sonic's quills however, in movie 1 Robotnik measured the quill and is said 'unlimited energy'. It would explain why the quill's power was not gone when eggman revealed it at the end of movie 1, it just bounces back up. Sonic's quills seems to have a back up power when it appears to be gone. In movie 2, before sonic became super sonic, I noticed that the emeralds came to sonic. The interesting thing about this is that in the book, 'Sonic the Hedgehog 2: The Official Movie Novelization' is that around at the end, instead of knuckles fixing the master emerald, it was sonic. I guess there is a claim that both of them can fix, because of their chaos energy. You make very good points and I think that correlatives with the theories I put out too. I think they go together lol.

Yeah, that was never explained. The only way it would make sense would be if Sonic was found by someone from Mobius/Sonic's homeworld (traveling via magical teleportation or something) and brought there. It bugs me to this day that SEGA has never gone through with giving a little more hint of where exactly Sonic came from. Cause unlike the Archie comics, Sonic has no blood family whatsoever. It would've been nice if they'd just gone through with officializing or just allude more to the possibility that Sonic and Shadow are related via experimentation.

Well, in the games it's obviously not canon, but in other media, perhaps, Sonic X, although it was never explored in depth, it is actually hinted that Sonic may be another creation of Gerald and it was confirmed that Maria launched 2 capsules to Earth and although it is never confirmed what that capsule contained, it was left very vague and the possibility that Sonic was the one in that capsule was never ruled out.

I mean the older archie comic version. Sonic was originally a ordinary hedgehog with only brown fur, and working and helping Ivo Robotnick when he was just nice. Until the machine they made somehow exploded. Sonic has the ability to run really fast and turned blue. But for Ivo Robotnuck combined himself with an rotten egg, turning him into a mad scientist. Which is a hero's and villan's orgin story.

If he was launched from Space Colony Ark, how could he possibly get to Mobius instead of simply being sent to Earth and likely being captured like Shadow was? (I know Mobius was written as the future version of Earth after a nuclear apocalypse, but that’s still hundreds, maybe THOUSANDS of years into the future compared to when Shadow was created and launched.)

Если смотреть по сюжету СА2 и задумкам сценаристов на тот момент, можно понять, что Соника намеревались сделать СФЖ (если учесть, что, по арке игры выясняется, что Шэдоу был создан на Земле, но капсула с АРК была выпущена, и по словам Шэдоу в конце финальной битвы, где он прямым текстом говорит, что считает Соника СФЖ) но от этого просто отказались в следующих играх, решив сделать его "просто героем"
