The blade traps can be turned off though. There are two secret rooms right behind the statues with the lever to turn off the traps. Also great place to snipe those 2 red guards with a scope rifle. One of the very few times where my investment in Inspection actually helped me with avoiding death traps.

Feeding is awesome, you get an invincible shield while gaining health, and enemies are useless until you finish.

In that "dead end", there's a switch to turn off the slicey blades of death. In the other dead end, there's something there, but I cannot recall it.

the buddhas represent the different lives that one could have based on their sins. These buddhas would be used so that you would be able to move back to being a human where that is the only place where you can gain enlightment and nirvana.

I've done the same thing in other games. I'd be doing something annoying but vital in a game, then I'd forget why I was doing it, say 'to hell with that', then promptly dying and going, "Ohhhhhhhhhhh right, now I 'member..." No offense meant, but that's funny as hell watching someone else do it.
