Agreed. The main reason hardcore Danganronpa fans hate it is because they got overhyped, inevitably disappointing themselves in the end. It's funny, because previous content such as Danganronpa Zero and Goodbye Despair actually justify several things that occur in 3, such as real Chiaki being based off the version Hajime meets during GD's final trial, the Despair Video being a crucial item in the lore since 2011 (Zero's publication year), and GD explicitly telling the player that the NEO World Program is meant to eliminate the brainwashing from Class-77B's bodies, which is something Makoto also mentions during GD's final trial. Apparently the fans trust Monokuma's (a notorious deceiver who just wants to make people suffer) word over the word of the one Future Foundation member that knew exactly what he was doing with the NWP, and wanted to ensure the rehabilitation of 15 individuals who were unwillingly dragged along in Junko and the Steering Committee's mess, so that they may at least have a second chance to live a normal life. TLDR on that last part: Most of DR3's negative fan reception perfectly lines up with what Tsumugi says in V3's final trial.

Revisiting this opening every time makes me cry for the female singers, Sayaka Kanda and Maon Kurosaki, alongside some of the innocent victims in the anime dying. Losing both Sayaka and Maon this soon is just despair enough.
