That was a Douglas B-26 Invader, not the Martin B-26 Marauder. The Invader was designated an attack aircraft during WWII. After WWII the Marauder was retired and the Invader was re-designated a little bomber. Only Invaders served in Korea. Most aircraft you pictured are Marauders from WWII.

@marlobreding740216 күн бұрын
The B-26 Marauder was a pilot killer early on until the Army Air Corps figured out the training of pilots. Being a former McDonnell Douglas Aerospace worker, I love the A-20 and A-26's. I made raydomes for the F-15's in 1973.
@markregan107216 күн бұрын
This is so wrong. All the imagery of the B26 Marauder throughout this video is from WW2, not Korea. The Marauder was withdrawn from service in 1947, and the B26 designation was transferred to the A26 Invader, a distinctly different twin-engine light attack bomber manufactured by Douglas Aircraft Company. This video ought to be withdrawn. The famous Medal-of-Honour Walmsley mission was undertaken in a B26 Invader, not a Marauder. POSTSCRIPT: I notice the video banner picture has been switched after my posted comment to an A26 and the word Marauder removed from the title, but all the WW2 Marauder video imagery is still in the video itself. Still not good enough! Darks Skies is a good channel - please do better for this video! Walmsley's amazing story deserves to be told accurately.

Notorious for many mistakes, I wrote years ago there needs to be an editor to check these over. It's sort of like WWII grind house movies, directed by Ed Wood.

@@unclefart5527 yes, but not so many like this video, never depicting the good aircraft. But there is always some inappropriate footage inside beside trhe main (supposed) subject, yes.

The lesson learned was that strngilig a determined enemy with massive airpower was a failure. Vietnam proved it
@FXDGRND13 күн бұрын
Vietnam proved you can't fight an enemy with limitations. F4's weren't allowed to fire long range missiles unless they had a visual on the plane. Bombers couldn't bomb certain targets because the Russian/ Chinese advisors might be there. Planes were required to fly the same path every day making it a turkey shoot on some days. Piss poor leadership on the upper levels of the government.

In addition to the Martin B-26s rather than the Korea vintage Douglas B-26 (you did show 3 or 4 examples) I also noted that it seams most of the planning and briefing footage depicted USAAF personal rather than the USAF. Come on folks, I know you have a tight production schedule but let's at least try to make it look like you tried.

The biggest problem with this channel is inaccurate video connected to rather story line. The A26/B26 mistake is really bad, but this video mentions 1952 with images of McArthur, who had been gone long before. /this is not an isolated issue. You need to tighten up your timeline accuracy.

But the N. Vietnamese weren’t strangled and, in the end, won the war. So the AF got it wrong and vastly overestimated air power in both wars. See Gen. Sherman’s Personal Civil War memoires where he offers an extended discussion of the profound difficulties of choking off rail transport in enemy country for more than a few days. His troops also developed extreme efficiency in reconstituting sabotaged and destroyed rail corridors also.
