Can I use this on top of rust/patina that has already formed on an iron piece? Or will it destroy it. I just want to spot-cover some areas that haven’t aged as well but thinking of giving the whole thing a coat

It would likely darken the existing rust finish but there are a few variables we would need to know before answering this question properly, give us a call and we can help you out 760 432 8242

Is it possible to use this on jewlery? I have a ring with stones, the ring itself was black when I bought it but now it has more and more turned orange.

Hey. I have a patina paint job on an old car and I would like to darken the affect. The patina is very light with light blues and yellows and I would like to darken them down a lot. Would that patina spray be alright or would it eat the paint? I'm hoping to find something that will darken the paint when applied. Thanks.

The patinas only work on metal, to darken paint you may want to look at coatings. Possibly something like our Patina Stain would help. Give us a call and we can discuss more in depth 760 432 8242

I purchased a few products from you guys a while back but got derailed on the project they were for and never opened them. I got Japanese Brown, Tiffany Green, a Gun Metal Bluing patina and the Verde patina. My question is, how long would the shelf life be on these if I never opened them? I can see that the green patinas have separated quite a bit and the copper powder or whatever it is you use to get the green color has turned green. IS that not good?

As long as they haven't been opened or left out to bake in the sun or anything, most of them have a pretty long shelf life. I have a few bottles in my testing area that are a few years old and they work just fine still. Just give them a good shake and test them out.

How well will something like the Darkening Patina hold up to everyday wear? I'm thinking of custom making some towel bars for the main bath using copper and want to get as close to a dark oil rubbed bronze color as possible.

You will want to use a clear coat like the Ever Clear. Without a clear coat, it will wear down over time.

What product is this? I looked on the site and noticed that the solutions for the steel are different that than the solutions used on other metals. Will the colored solutions (for other metals) work on the steel as well to darken to a brown patina? Thanks

This is the Traditional Darkening Patina found at this link: sculptnouveau.com/collections/traditional-patinas/products/traditional-brown-patinas Not all work on all metals. In the video, it shows what this patina will do to steel as well as other metals. Japanese Brown for example does not work on any metal other than steel. If you have more questions, give us a call and we can help more over the phone.

Will this work on cupronickel?
@sculptnouveau
@sculptnouveau Жыл бұрын
It is not a normal metal we test on but it should work. It really comes down to the copper content. The more copper in that mix of metal the better reaction is the general rule.
