Although the puzzle itself may not be difficult, I have decided to provide my attempt of finishing the act for your convenience.
Sorry for being a bit slow, was also trying to figure out on my first run.

I get it now. The notes have to mirror the other side, not match. The Joker is like a wild note in place wherever he is standing, so wherever he stands is considered the needed note. This is something the game needs to explain. It's way too complicated. It's also the same as displayed.
@Illidandavid
@Illidandavid Жыл бұрын
The game kinda doesn't explain lots of things, it's been the same since DD1. It's interesting how much of a puzzle it is, since once you understand the mechanics, the rest is simply piecing together why the notes are indicated as "in tune", then trial and error until it fits. Once you understand the Jester = Wildcard, Crescendo and Diminuendo are "shift wild card" while Nota Cambiata stands for change (another) Note. Kinda reminds me of needing a guide to explain to me why keeping watch during DD1 camping was invaluable lmao and how busted scouting chance really is. Once you understand the mechanics of the puzzle you won't need to look at a guide to beat it. Now I kinda miss the secret rooms from DD1....

@@Illidandavid its pretty obscure, & tryin to figure out what things did caused me to lose the first attempt thru trial n error (i figured out the mechanics but had to realize it was flipped vs matching, which it was a 50-50 & I lost so I had to redo it, if they made that part slightly more obvious its not nearly as bad)
@Illidandavid
@Illidandavid Жыл бұрын
@@alext.1244 You also have to think about it this way, on the first (or even second playthrough) there are times when you utterly despair, possibly get overwhelmed by boss mechanics. The game isn't meant to be beatable in a single sitting. If you go in blind, defeating each confession boss is nigh impossible. Red Hook devs have always rewarded trial and error. Hitting bookstacks against Librarian? Hitting the Root behind the General? Thinking you're doomed to try and beat the General in 4 turns, otherwise the Growth swallows up your entire party.... The game rarely ever gives you hints or explains mechanics.

@@Illidandavid very fair, the only reason i survived the general the first time was cuz I had seen a clip from a DBD streamer (But i didnt know u HAD to hit it twice so I lost half my party regardless). I guess im just concerned about it being TOO obscure/difficult and that that may cause people to give up and/or lookup help maybe? Aside from that intro twitch clip, one-two vids on newplayer guides & THIS video for the jester i havent tried to give up or seek help (altho once I found out theres a wiki I did take a browse) & its that battle to try not make things too hopeless for the newerish players is important i dunno I did infact destroy the librarian 1st try (due to great anti burn items) without a guide or a clue just a vague guess that burn damage was important for a boss that lived in a BURNING LIBRARY lol haha & i got rewarded for that guess/knowledge feels GREAT & is wat a good balanced boss feels like. ....altho.... wat does hitting the books do tho? I just focused on the guy himself & killed him b4 he destroyed the last stack infront of us! wat happens wen all the stacks are gone?
@Illidandavid
@Illidandavid Жыл бұрын
@@alext.1244 he usually burns a stack every turn (deals 15 damage to it). Once a stack is gone he uses his big AOE. When ALL stacks are gone, he just keeps spamming the AOE twice a turn, usually leading to a full team wipe within 2-3 turns if you cant kill him by that point. I'm sure the devs made the game having well in mind that whoever gets stuck but likes the game / graphics will just look it up anyway. The design for most things was left vague and up for players to explore and spend dozens of hours investing their time into it. Which admittedly, they accomplished very well seeing the games' success. It's nothing as obscure as securing important clues or walkthroughs / guides / easter eggs through magazines back in the day. Then be king next day when you go to school and tell all your friends about it.

This puzzle sucks. HARD. What isn't explained, and what I just figured out after a lot of trial and error, is that moving will change a note one level for one point of stress. So in the 2 and ESPECIALLY the 3rd fight, you have to use movement to "prime" some of the changes before using change notes. That reduces the cost to change them from 2 x 2 to 1 x 1 plus 2 x 1 so a total of 4 vs 3 stress (no move/move). THAT is the secret to beating this puzzle.

This is definitely one of the more annoying hero shrines. Thank you so much for the guide. Most other hero challenges you can figure out on the first go, this one has so much going on with you needing to be in proper place ahead of time without knowing what notes will be coming up next or else you'll fail out the challenge. Failed 3 times and not gonna fail my forth thanks to you!

There was a jester whose real name was sarmenti, he was regular street performer playing jovial tunes on his lute to make his living having no ambition to forge ahead or gain glory as a great musical talent until, one night he heard a melody unlike any other, it was no ordinary tune ment to cuddle the ears but to move the heart and soul itself he quickly followed the sounds of this tune until he found himself at a graveyard looking for the composer of this tune he found its source, an apparition of an old man sat before him playing the heavenly tune on his violin sarmenti knew at that moment that the man wasn't playing, he was fighting with his music challenging him to a battle of music, sarmenti drew his lute fighting the apparation with all the musical skill he could muster the first he had ever played as if it was more then just to make a living but as a way of living, defeating the ghost before it disappeared it imparted all of its musical genius filling sarmenti with melodies that could calm the hearts of even the most hardened and cruel brigand, with that genius and the thrill of winning a fire aroused within the once jovial street performer a fire to become not just a great composer and musician playing for giant crowds no, he would be a composer singing for nobility and royalty. Alas it was not to be, for the nobility had no interest in regular music, they preferred a more unconventional tune, a crueler one, when sarmenti was invited by the local lord to play for his court he was overjoyed now he can show his new found ability but that joy turned to anger and resentment as he forced to Don a jesters outfit being used as a plaything for the noblilities cruel and sadistic games, having to put up with their constant berating and insults at his attempts to play his music, dodging knives as they laughed at him struggling to survive treating him with no respect or human decency, at last sarmenti had enough he pulled all of the musical genius and skill he was given into one melody filling it with all of his rage and resentment wanting to kill these disrespectful hecklers who insult his musical talent, a melody that broke the ears and minds of the nobility leaving only a blood soaked stage, the event scaring sarmentis mind leaving him in a fit of hysterical laugher seeing the true extent of this musical genius he couldn't help but laugh even more at how it wasn't even his, so taking a knife to his hand he cut off his playing finger causing the great talent within him to leave as the great songs and melodies were now impossible to play or atleast to their full extent.""There was a jest whose real name was sarmenti, he was regular street performer playing jovial tunes on his lute to make his living having no ambition to forge ahead or gain glory as a great musical talent until, one night he heard a melody unlike any other, it was no ordinary tune ment to cuddle the ears but to move the heart and soul itself he quickly followed the sounds of this tune until he found himself at a graveyard looking for the composer of this tune he found its source, an apparition of an old man sat before him playing the heavenly tune on his violin sarmenti knew at that moment that the man wasn't playing, he was fighting with his music challenging him to a battle of music, sarmenti drew his lute fighting the apparation with all the musical skill he could muster the first he had ever played as if it was more then just to make a living but as a way of living, defeating the ghost before it disappeared it imparted all of its musical genius filling sarmenti with melodies that could calm the hearts of even the most hardened and cruel brigand, with that genius and the thrill of winning a fire aroused within the once jovial street performer a fire to become not just a great composer and musician playing for giant crowds no, he would be a composer singing for nobility and royalty. I have done my first save scum in frustration. I am a broken man and afraid of clicking anything now for fear of needing to try this elevenity billion times. I do not feel accomplished having done this. I just feel frustration that it existed. ...I think I'm having a genuine Darkest Dungeon experience.

Yours is about the fifth KZbin video I've watched on how to win this. And guess what? Yours didn't work for me either. But that's really beside the point. I am not criticizing your post. I'm glad you found a solution that works for you. Developers need to stop sucking the life and joy out of games by creating these near-to-impossible scenarios in their games. With over 600 games, I am quite knowledgeable and experienced on gameplay; and, when I find one like this where you have no choice but to scour the internet for a "possible" solution and thereby being insulted by the developer as to your own intelligence, I have learned to simply stop playing the game and to leave it a terrible review. Games should be fun. And at times educational. But if you're having to look for a way outside of the game mechanics itself in order to win, then it's a supremely poor design. We as a community have the responsibility to demand better from the producers. Don't get me wrong. I loved Darkest Dungeon 1! I love trying to figure out the best strategy each round to win and move onto the next; but winning should happen naturally, as you figure things out and learn with each attempt, not something that only happens once you're logged out (and not to mention trying to figure out how to save a game so it can later be reloaded!) and looked for that even more illusive "needle in a haystack" solution. I mean, come on, how long did we all have to waste just to get at a solution? That is, if you even found one at all. Let developers know how much this kind of thing sucks.
