►Lyrics:
This is a ravenous love
You get what you give in
But is it ever enough
I feel the pressure collapse
Out of breath
And out of time
Out of the one thing
You worked your whole life for
I gave everything to the night
Gave everything for the song
When I lost myself to learn
Everyday I am reborn
Separate my heart
Tear apart the flesh
Devastate and subjugate myself to an awakening
Perpetual
Terminal

I love Darkest Hour, they were fronting for As I Lay Dying 15-18 years ago or something when I watched them perform live in Stockholm Sweden. I had not heard much from them before that gig but I remember to this day clearly when they started with that "With a thousand words to say but one" with that long intro that got the crowd hyped up and wild before their chaos riffing started and everybody was jumping around haha, really good stuff =) Since I am a guitarist myself I really enjoy such guitar heavy/focused metal like Darkest Hour plays. They have such amazing riffs and melodies on their guitars that the rest of the music seems to be centered around, I just love it =)

@@wowno5763 To be clear, I’m talking about the track, not necessarily the video. The production on this track is a benchmark, John’s pitched vocals continue to be the best example of the blended styles of melodic DM and hardcore, Nico’s modern embellishments in the solo, and beyond that - the callback to highly illustrative artwork for the album all stick out to me as being very positive momentum for metalcore. Maybe not at face value, but they are doing all of the important things right imo

@@CHRlSBLAlN it's still a sound that has been done for years. There's nothing new here. I guess it's better than going backwards but there's nothing in this song that pushes anything forward. To be fair to you, I'm honestly not trying to troll you for your comment, but just create conversation. When I listen to Darkest Hour, I really don't hear them as a metalcore band. I've always found it difficult to put a label on their sound. It doesn't sound like metalcore to me. The riffs have an At The Gates kind of flavor, but the overall sound is not quite Melodic Death Metal. It's definitely not your traditional Death Metal sound. It's just a good mixture of different genres and styles that come together into one cohesive sound. Most bands that mix different styles sound gimmicky, in my opinion, but Darkest Hour truly pulls it off. That's what makes them special, in my opinion. No tired breakdowns, no trends. Just fast, melodic riffing, excellent guitar solos, a unique vocalist that is hard to label, and a truly unique groove. I've always loved Darkest Hour. They're great.

Darkest hour still at it… criminally underrated in my book.

I feel like when Lone Star left, they changed and weren’t as melodic, it’s good to see them come back around to their original sound, the one I fell in love with so many years ago

What do you mean? This is their first album without Lonestar.

@@LeviBoldock he was their lead guitarist between 2008-2020, then he left to give guitar lessons professionally, I believe.

@@ctrlaltdestroy8821 No, your comment doesn't make any sense. This new album is their first without Lonestar since he left the band. You said they changed their sound when he left but you're also saying they're back to their original sound when they haven't made any new music between him leaving and this new album.

Wow! As good as ever! The signature DH sound. I love bands that don't change their sound, but just makes it better.

I have missed you guys so much. I'll never forget back in 2005 when you guys played with Mnemic and Soilwork in Baltimore at the Sonar, Mike pulled me up on stage at the end and took off his EVH Striped guitar and gave to me to just go wild on (I can't play for shit lol) right at the end of the set. Crowd loved it. I loved it. This was the MySpace days. Good times, boys 🤟🍻
