Darklab PE3035M reel to reel tape on a Revox B77 - evaluation

German recording tape seller Darklab have started to produce their own tape. In this video I go through the process of assembling a pancake into a 10-inch reel, setting up my B77 for the new tape, and measuring frequency response, noise level and oversaturation headroom using some fairly basic measurement devices.

interested to see how it fares on my A807 here, or on my c274. I have a B77 too, running low-speed (1.875) quarter track onto NOS zonal LP, for long mixtapes, but mostly ran the ill-fated ampex 478 on a PR99 in the studio. anyway, good to know someone's still making stock.

Did the manufacturer not supply overbias values for a starting point?

No, and apparently communication isn't their strong point, so I thought it would be easier to try a few values and see which worked best.

I think you mean N.A.B. hub, not NAB hub.

Well there's a thing. I've only ever seen it written down, so I always assumed people said "nab". I can think of any number of acronyms that people pronounce as a word, like NASA and UNESCO, but there is a (possibly even bigger) list of examples where we say the letters, so the only rule is "there is no rule". All we have to go on is convention, certainly in the English Language.
