Even though they dont bring it up in the game, Pollux is actually Kratos' half-brother. Zeus is their dad. Castor and Pollux are twins but from different fathers. Castors dad was the King of Sparta, and had impregnated their mom, then Zeus turned into a Swan and graped her, impregnating her with a second child who they named Pollux. The Spartan fetus tried to consume the Olympian one. Its kinda foreshadowing Kratos himself.

The Manticore, I feel, is one of the more disturbing/surreal creatures of mythos, as the brain recognizes it as a creature nature doesn't create. Instead it defines the design of cruelty.

I don't know why people disliked this game, actually it's one of my favorite of the series (I know the history and the sister as last bosses were not so great, but the rest of enemies are the best designed from all the series).

Personally, the game preceding this one (GOW 3) is one of the best games of all time. Starts off by pummeling a major god and only goes up from there with the boss fights and scale of brutality. It makes these hack and slash boss fights seem antiquated and drawn out. I, like many others most likely, expected more of Acension after three. It was good in its own unique way, I spent more time in the multiplayer and do not remember these boss fights fondly if at all. Felling Titans. Brutalizing Hades. Dismembering Hermès. How could you compete with that? An unkillable unfeeling Norse god could do but they topped the Greek stuff on three. Still, multiplayer was fun, picking Zeus, Ares, Hades, Poseidon as a class was unique. Interactive maps. Melee multiplayers are rare. Shouldn’t be. Why was Kratos struggling with being crazy in ascension? Of course he is! He never stopped and mentioned that in three. Just kept doing his thing. Ascension is ok but compared to three, no chance. I don’t think people play GOW for story as much as gore, insane stunts/acrobatics, and general lore. Perfected in three ._. Just my thought on it!

The reason I don’t like Ascension, is it feels a little weaker when compared to other games in the franchise, even the classic trilogy. Not to mention, the tons of enemy onslaughts even on Normal! And on higher difficulties, so I hear, it’s a nightmare. Even with max health, max magic, max damage output on ALL weapons & magic, it’s still a damned pain!

The Aegaeon the Hecatonchires has always been my favorite boss in the Ascension game because it's both unsettling to look at, the body horror the giant has to through after Megaera introduces her bugs into the gameplay and their ability to infect and weaponize organisms, and how awesome the whole concept is (a giant with a hundred hands being used as a prison is both a boss fight and a level, somewhat of a precursor to the Cronos boss fight in God of War 3).

This game had the best graphics, gameplay and music in the series. I know it does not beat all the other gow games in terms of story but it does beat them in terms of the aspects I mentioned above. I honestly enjoy this game more than chains of olympus and ghost of sparta even though the story of these games is better. The story of this game is not that bad after all. It is pretty interesting. This is one of my most favourite games in the series and I still enjoy it wholesomely.

The best graphics belong to GoW 2018. The only game in the series that can support 4K. I played all games in the series. This had great graphics but GoW 3 had better graphics and gameplay. One thing I remember the most in this game tho is music and its good multiplayer function.

Do Kratos' blades' flames change depending on the element that you have pre-selected? This means if he has the Fire of Ares equipped, his flames will be burning; if he has the Ice of Posiden, do his Blades of Chaos emit blue flames or are they very still but have ice on them?
