My first thought was "he's going to have so much fun, he won't even think it's work." Now all you need is a big chipper. Look at all the mulch you could make out of those trees. I'm jealous. I love using cool pieces of equipment. One place I lived, I used my riding mower to reclaim pasture land. It was completely overgrown with blackberries. Every few days I'd go out and mow a bit more. I think I managed to reclaim about an acre. I actually worked my way out of a place to live, because the landowner could get more rent from someone who wanted to farm or needed pasture for livestock.

Great video Daniel. I can relate when you talk about being "in the wrong profession" when it comes to operating equipment, especially a skid steer with attachments like you have been using. I absolutely love it as well. It's literally like a kid in a candy store. Glad you're able to have a place close that rents equipment like that that you can "play" with and still get some work done on the farm. Keep it up and have a great time enjoying this spring weather. I'm in Utah and it's starting to feel like spring here as well.

If your elm trees are like the ones we have around here, if you leave the stump they will grow back from the stump. So pulling them like you are is best course of action. Another awesome demonstration, thank you for sharing this with us.

I understand that you want to improve your property by removing trash trees, but it breaks my heart to see a living tree just plucked from the ground. I would put the removed trees on a pile away from trees so they could be burned instead of "in your forest". In the first video with the other attachment, my jaw dropped when I saw you remove a tree somewhere in the 25 to 30-foot tall range, and see you just move it with the big canopy still intact. That is an awesome piece of equipment.

He explained the reason in his other videos. He leaves them so animals can use them as "homes" and the trees he removed were to help the other trees so they didnt just soak up all the water.

I SO need to rent one of these for a weekend - both attachments! I cleared all the pines off of my completely forested lot (2010) and decided to give the oaks and elms and other trees time to breathe before I made anymore cuts. Now, I've got some fantastic trees out there, but after 10+ years, some are still scraggly sticks and I need them gone. There's a lot of them though and there's only me, and I've only just started learning how to use a chainsaw.

Wow! To be able to rent such great machines is wonderful for so many small farms and homesteads! My husband is so jealous of all the fun your having. Even clearing a fence line would be so worth the rental. Those small stumps are forever popping tires, hanging up equipment on or flipping them. People who don't live in Oklahoma need to check out their local distributors to see if they participate! Did you give any of those Cedar trees to your goats? So many of them love to eat it and the kids play on them too.

I somewhat see why you are removing the Ceder trees , BUT I live in Ohio , Dad and my brother farm , I own land and hunt deer ... on my land I have CPR ground that is not good to farm ... So much of that land is grass trees and brush ... part of the CPR land I am setting up for deer bedding , I put a number of 20 yard X 40 yard areas planted with pine and ceder ( Free small trees and ones I dig up other places ) , these areas have no food , but allow the deer to bed out of the wind and hide .... you MIGHT fine a few areas like that may help the deer in your area

I just got mine a few weeks ago and tried it out last week. 40 and 50 foot cedars go down in less than two minutes. This thing is shocking. When I'm up against a bigger tree, I actually just ram the teeth into the root ball under the tree which rips the roots apart, and then push the tree over after user the unit to dig around it. You can also use this thing to grab and move big rocks, dig a trench, we even used it to dig holes for trees. It's faster than a backhoe for small tree planting and bush planting. You can also use it to drive posts by gripping a t-post driver in the teeth and just simply shoving the t-post down into the ground. I moved downed trees with it, and for my next trick, I'm going to use it as a platform to wrap a chain around and pick up my sawmill in a box and move it to its final destination. There are a lot of uses for this thing. Until I got it hooked up, I had no idea how useful it would be.

Man, I'm questioning whether I should go ahead with the excavator or rent a skid steer and an attachment to clear some property! Anyone have advice on it? Bunch of little trees and a couple larger trees that need to come down. I didn't think I'd be able to move them with a skid steer the way I can with an excavator and thumb, but that thing looks like it'd do the trick and much faster than an excavator.

Sorry I have to be that guy. I know you are in a cab but you should still have safety glasses on. I have replaced a few front glass in skid steers in my time and it sends glass every where. But good video and keep it up.

Been watching for several months now and you have inspired us to share our lifestyle on you tube as well. It seems like your videos are becoming one big commercial I hope that is not the trend there is not much wholesome entertainment out there and that’s why we watch not for the commercials
