In the Netherlands they are an invasive species, we see kids at the boating piers use slices of lunchmeat pork to catch them off a pier…they would tie some line to clothespins which held the pork and ‚fish‘ for them…not really a trap but the crawdads seemed not to let go and went after that quickly.

I like the way Keaton releases the fish. To hit the water from a height is a jolt that don't feel good for humans so I imagine it don't feel so good to a fish. Good on ya Keaton for releasing fish gently.

Move the traps try one a little deeper and one a little more shallow around rocks, crawdads sometimes hide under the rocky areas. I’m going to try to start putting up more videos in about a month on my channel. I just got really sick and was in the hospital with two collapsed lungs, pneumonia in both lungs, both kidneys infected so much I was in ICU.

Hay Daniel, a tip from one okie to another...Us 8 kids when we wanted to go crawdad huntin we would sneak into the kitchen a get a tater and peel it then the braver of us would sneak a piece of mama"s crochet thread and tie it real tight around that tater take it to the creek and when we found some rocks in shallow water we would lower that tater down between those rocks and with minutes a crawdad would shoot out from under a rock and latch unto that tater and the kid who had the other end of that thread would carefully lift it up out of the water...sometimes we"d get two crawdads on one tater. we all wanted to do it but didn"t dare take 8 tater"s.

Hello I do crawdad trapping and I have some tips. Try fish like bait fish for example salmon, shad, or herring. But for salmon I would use the remains of the fish. Shad is supper oily so it is the best bait in my opinion. That will attract the crawdads fast. But I do worry since there are so many predatory fish in your creek that not a whole lot of crawdads get very big. Anyway good luck 👍. Love your videos!

LOL, Earl got scalped! I can't believe how hard little Gemma has to run on those tiny legs to keep up with the rest of you. Houston, you didn't come away empty handed. You had a fun morning with Keaton, Dad and the pooches. You also caught a BIG turtle and learned that you might get some crappie in the future.
@ryankimball60303 жыл бұрын
What we use in Louisiana: Raw chicken wings or legs and beef liver works really well for crawfish. Those traps also might not be the best. The traps with the cotton netting and four wire supports are what we always use here in Louisiana. They look like pyramids kinda. You have to have a long bamboo pole with a stiff wire or long nail in the end bent like an L. Then you tie the beef liver/ chicken parts to the middle of the nets and let them sit for 20-30 minutes. Then pull them quickly from the water.
@RollenTide853 жыл бұрын
Here in Georgia we use cut bait and dice it up in small chunks. I usually put it in some stockings and let it hang from the top of the trap so the fish or mudbugs can't eat it up.

Use Lettuce chopped up in your traps. Start taking some Lettuce leaves down to where you will be putting your traps later and throw the leaves out there so that the crawdads will be use to them. I'm not a professional at this but I googled it and that's what it says. It sure wouldn't hurt. Good luck on your crawdad catch and cook. 👍
