Almost 70 years ago. This was before my time. My mother was only 13 when this came out. It's so weird seeing this, on one hand it seems so ancient, so far away, yet it's not really. and it's still connected to Now, yet Now seems so different. It's so strange how your perception of events changes and alters as decades pass. I was born in the late 60's, and the world we are living in now seems so different than the world we lived in back then, yet todays world is built on the back of yesterdays. Saying that, I love this song, love Doris Day!

you oldsters and us youngsters too! I'm 17 and even before, around 10, I discover the beautiful eras the 20s -60s were, music, movies, and style wise... just because the majority of teenagers like dumb and inappropriate stuff doesn't mean that there is a small group who are complete suckers for the beautiful romantic feeling songs like this bring to our little hearts. Some of us even feel we were born in the wrong era!

Doris was so beautiful and talented! (She turned 96 on April 3, 2018) Gordon was a great actor and singer, too -- with great hair! : ) People dressed well and were much more polite and respectful. I agree that it was "The Greatest Generation" and that time was part of the Golden Age of Entertainment that we shall never see again, sadly. The world was far from perfect, back then, but it's even further from perfect now, in my own opinion. This song is the title song of the same film name "By the Light of the Silvery Moon (1953)" and is a sequel to "On Moonlight Bay (1951)." Both are great films and highly recommended.
