This is very very early pre grime dubstep or dark garage , because of songs like this we now have artists like skrillex

I love this track. Big up Oris Jay/Darqwan This was the darkest sound around at the time. Nobody was going this dark. It's awesome too dark. The production on this is so crisp. Big up for the load. I first heard Slimzee play this and then I luckily bought from Black Market Records. Epic epic track.

Orris Jay remix Of champion sound is first 2 step I heard in 2006. Friend had a few records and let me keep that one. It’s unmixable. Looking like a thrift store record (how they took care of their records..) But I still put it on once in a while just to get that spark memory. Orris Darwin’s J Is a true creator of his own sound. Not just a sound but tons of material all very quality. Kind of reminds me of equinox in drum and bass. Clean drum samples, always well mixed and the vibes shred it and ever present. Cheers Orris 💜

his mashup "Said the Kane" was great back then too, not sure they ever let that one get in the hands of the public, I can only remember hearing it on a Tayo radio show.

would that bass melody normally sound huge on a decent soundsystem and vinyl? or did tracks just sound kinda flat them times?

the birth of dubstep
@zeramoke7 жыл бұрын
You can see the early style of it's bassline with the synth line "bleeps" and if you changed the drums cos this is a breaks/garage tune you are getting close to dubstep for sure - I always thought the "birth" of dubstep tune was EL B's (GHOST) Buck n Bury which came out in 2002... but not the one that you find on KZbin everywhere the hard version at 2.43 here > kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2KvqGWKhdOJiac Got a 2 STEP / Breakstep vybe to it - but people will probably argue forever when the birth of any genre was... dubstep came out of harder garage, 2 step and breakbeat tunes in South London & Bristol (uk) at about the same time early 2000's and same thing happened with Jungle almost ten years earlier with it evolving out of hardcore & rave tunes in the early 1990's both in South London & Bristol - those two cities have created some amazing underground styles - anyways i could blab on for hours - much respect :)
