Darrell Brooks trial: Mentally competent, despite numerous outbursts

Prosecutors argued Thursday before opening statements that the accused Waukesha Christmas parade attacker Darrell Brooks is mentally competent despite his numerous outbursts in court thus far. On Thursday, he was removed from the main courtroom and muted due to multiple interruptions. He then proceeded to take off his shirt, appeared to attempt to throw a shoe, and threatened to throw and break things.

Someone said that the fact that he fled from the scene after he punched Erica's friend and the police was called shows he understands what he did was wrong. And after he plowed through the parade he fled again and was hiding in a playhouse on someone's lawn when police finally caught him. If he was crazy he wouldn't understand why he did anything wrong and wouldn't intentionally hide from the police. And if parade truly was an accident from a malfunction of the car I would believe he wouldn't have fled the scene

Two reasons she is being super nice to him: 1. To avoid any loopholes for an appeal or mistrial. 2. That is the way to handle Narcissists who are in effect, a child in an adult body. Stroke their ego and they behave. Confront them with anger and you get a petulant child who delays the trial further. She did a better job than Supernanny could have done. Always courteous to him, always explaining the legal basis for her rulings, always ensuring he was not confronted directly so he did not lose face. If she punished him the trial would be delayed. Since he was his own attorney, he could keep making delays which he did. The trial extended by 10 more days due to his antics. She still pushed it through to the end. Brava Judge!

He knew that his jail phone calls were recorded and listened to by the prosecution; they mention it in this video, he mentions it numerous times... yet he somehow thought that they wouldn't listen to the one where he told his mother to send him the photos, rather than the lie he told when he said that Erika sent them? and even after he was caught out, he still proclaimed that was a lie. As if they couldn't whip a subpoena up in 5 seconds flat for the phone call and then have it played for the court less than an hour later

He gave us a life lesson about our disturbing questions - like "What kind of man would do something as cruel and evil as this?" We watched his trial for 3 weeks. What did we see? But an appeals court can say something was wrong with the trial, then they ask the question, would that have changed the jury’s verdict? I don’t see an appeals court judge saying yes to that. There’s freaking video of him committing the crime. Then there’s the interrogation video where he lies about not driving to Wakeusha.

I remember taking my then teenage son to court for a minor wreak … he had dress pants and dress shirt on but the bailiff stopped my son at the door and told him to tuck in his shirt …. This monster has no respect for ANYONE and he won’t face the judge shirtless because he is a coward,same reason he wears a mask .
