This is one of the most lyrically creative and astute, and emotionally and beautifully performed, masterpieces ever recorded. And I will stand on Bob Dylan’s coffee table in my cowboy boots next to Steve Earle and say that.

I saw Darrell in Milwaukee last night! When he did this song, after Guy's spoken part, Darrell played "Desperados Waiting on a Train"! Then he finished this song in one unbroken performance. Fantastic! What a guitar player.

Grant Youngquist He did the same thing here in Bristol at Rythym and Roots and the train came along behind him blowing it's horn at the end of Desparados. it's an outdoor festival and he was playing a stage right in front of the train station. totally unplanned. I smiled picturing Guy laughing, toking some "worry be gone", driving the train.

Some clear signs here that Darrell has been influenced by the Transatlantic Sessions musicians. Great to hear. I keep coming back to listen to his music. His guitar playing is fluid, rhythmic and often raw and rough which gives his music such presence and soul. Even better he seems to play every song differently each time he plays it and this keeps his sound really alive and fresh. Just great.

Enjoying the hell out of this song, especially poignant with the Guy Clark narration at the end. Hate that crappy shaky-cam camera work, I thought that fad was over.
@staleeriksen14514 жыл бұрын
Guy's spoken outro. "There were two crows who built a nest i a windmill dairy. I was there around a lot (? difficult to hear). Windmill dairy wasn't much, but halfway up in the dairy was some crows nest. It was like "this big" around and it's made out of barbwire. Only takes two to make a murder of crows. Well, the crows, they go in there and catch baby rattle snakes and have 'em over for lunch. (?? hard to hear) Then (?) lying there's just skin and bones, skin and bones, skin and bones. Uh hu hu...far out! I've been trying to write a song about it ever since." Hard to hear all the words in the story. Any corrections or suggestions are much welcome. :)
