Guitar envy has seriously surfaced. That is a beauty! One of my favs for EM7 (which I think I first heard on George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass") from 6 (low E) to 1 (high E) is E B D# G# B E or fret positions (low to high) 0 2 1 1 0 0 . Actually "All Things Must Pass " is a great tune to practice some of these moving positions mixing droning open strings with fretted notes. Positions like (low to high) 0 4 2 2 0 0, 0 6 4 4 0 0, 0 7 7 6 0 0, 0 9 9 8 0 0 are all great. Kind of gives a 6 string some of that chimey feel feel of a 12 string.

I use those drone-chords in the E scheme since 30 years in many cover songs. Learned about dronetones in India. Gives it instantly a personal sound.

Darrell what a Fab Video! You have the ability to teach a lesson that is concise and easily absorbed. Know most of the chords but the way you presented it was excellent, I had two "AH HA" moments where things just clicked in my head and put things in perspective with a fuller understanding. Thanks!! Notice a number of comments regarding the Deluxe Atlantic. I fell in Love with that guitar from your first review on it. More so after watching the comparison with the Les Paul. Still haven't been able to play one, the Premiere Atlanic I've had hands on but the Deluxe is always out of stock. My choice of colour Black, the hardest to find (even online). I read somewhere when the Deluxe Atlantic first came out it had a Rosewood fingerboard, soon after it was replaced with Pau Ferro. Is this true? If so what fingerboard wood does yours have? Darrell, interested in trading for a Tele, one ya don't have? Cheers

Good info Darrell! That's an issue I have, playing chords up the neck, it kind of gets boring always sticking to the tabloid area lol. I have a question for you about a chord that comes up a lot but I have no clue what you would call it, I was a bit surprised when other guitarists were in the same boat as I lol. I like to play along with the old KISS records, their first 5 or 6 albums, and they tend to use this "chord" a lot. I have heard it on other bands material as well such as Boston's don't look back and Peace of mind. Basically the chord position is G on the 7th fret, B on the 8th fret and D on the 9th fret. That shape is played on other frets but this one seems to be the most common, on Don't look back it's part of that opening riff where you bar those strings on the 14th fret and then hammer on to the 15th and 16th on the B and D. Any idea of what I'm referring to? I always enjoy your tutorial video's you have a very calm way of teaching, keep up the great work!
@DarrellBraunGuitar6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, that is a cool chord. It's an inverted G chord. A really cool 3 string chord 👍
@alabamahebrew6 жыл бұрын
@@DarrellBraunGuitar - Thank you!! But for clarification purposes, is that an inverted G chord in every position it's played? For example if you move it a full step up would it now an inverted E chord? It's a cool chord and easy enough for finger placement but like I said, for some reason I always seem to struggle with it if I have to go to it quickly.
@DarrellBraunGuitar6 жыл бұрын
As you move the shape around the chord name will change :) The root note of that chord is 2nd string so that's how you can know what chord you are playing.
