Keep in mind because there seems to be some confusion: The team labeled it as such, but this is NOT the horn from Joe Louis Arena. This new horn is an different model horn manufactured by a different manufacturer. It is a similar model horn to the Florida Panthers and Minnesota Wild. Still thrilled the organization heard the fans and ditched the recording!

This horn literally made my year! Huge improvement. Exact same sound quality, except 2 semitones higher than the one at the Joe. Also, the Red Wings did NOT steal Florida's horn. Florida's horn has a warmer, darker sound with a certain crackle that Detroit's horn never had.

This is exactly the horn from the Joe, just the pitch is higher. If they can somehow adjust the pitch (doubt its possible) to be lower, it'll sound the same as it once did at the Joe.

To me, the Wings' new horn, the Coyotes' horn, the Wild's horn and the Panthers' horn sound the same (must be the tone). This coming from a proud Kings fan, no bias though.

It was the same model, it just sounds different due to acoustics of the building. They even said that in the press release.

@@austinkowalski5512 The Buell Reed Horns have two horns together with two different notes producing the unique sound. The new horn is a tri-horn and spits out the same note. Not trying to say this in a negative way, but you can’t always believe what you read on the internet. Remember Tom Wilson from Ilitch said the old horn was too quiet? And that’s why they recorded the sound? That wasn’t true. Many people buy it’s the same horn but the tone of the horn is wildly off compared to the horn from The Joe. The two sounds are so different, can’t blame acoustics. The Islanders horn sounds different in UBS Arena but the tone and pitch are the same.

from what I've heard, the horn was gas operated. That violated a detroit fire safety code. The new model, should be the same model, just a lot different looking. Instead of gas operated, it might be air operated like the rest.

The old horn sucked, but it was definitely better. This horn is literally the panthers goal horn and the wild goal horn. Why couldn’t they just fix the old horn? It’s still in the rafters.
