I went to grade school with Darren. We used to play together at Kings Court apartments in Olathe. His father Larry was a beast, he was training Darren from day one. Watched many battles between he and Gary Adam’s on the track in Junior High. In high school, Darren went to another level, the greatest Kansas high school football player of all time. We all know the rest of his story, nothing but love for Darren Sproles.

@ yes, his team never lost. They wouldn’t even run the sweep outside because it was a guaranteed TD. I remember Darren always being quiet because of his speech impediment, one of the many things he worked through in life and achieved great success. Darren might be a great athlete, but more than anything he has great resolve and the ability to deal with adversity. Having a loving 2 parent household would be one of his major keys to success in my opinion, and I’m sure he would agree.

@@h2w25I can attest to everything you are saying. I am the same high school grad class as Darren. I played at Manhattan High and we met them in the 6A State finals at KU in 01. He went for 200 yards on 20 carries. No one man could bring him down. No shit talking. Just straight work. When we lost, everyone asked us what the hell happened (shit we were good, too!!). I told them that I heard he’s coming to K. State (in Manhattan), you’ll see what happened to us. And even after barely playing as a freshman, he broke every record at K State and went on to have a HOF career. Great player and even better human being. I feel like those were the early days of high school recruiting cause Olathe North was a rich school but they went and GOT D Sproles and dominated!!!

wow, i used to work the cameras at Darren Sproles highschool games in kc area.. you guys should've asked sproles about playing little league football in kc.. they didn't want to let him play because he was so small. This kid should've got paid for highschool football.. he entertained us like a mfkr.. To this day sproles is the bar in kc highschool football.. You guys may not know but Sproles is so respected in kc and loved by so many people.. Words can't even explain how people, the media and so many people love this guy in kc.. Another thing you guys may not know is sproles is the reason bob stoops started recruiting small backs at ou.. man i can't say enough how beautiful of a person sproles is.. Anybody who has sproles as a friend is one lucky mfr..

Did u work for Metro Sports? I played HS football in the KC area on the Missouri side against Sproles twice. We are the same age. Im barely 5'8" and he was like a foot shorter than me when I stood next to him. They put him in the game at corner for a series and I caught a 10 yard curl route on him. Lol. But they beat us each time. Definitely one of the best ever from KC.

Yeah they fumbled that, seem like Jackson didn’t want to go into depth about Wentz, with all the negative commits that came out about Wentz, anonymous sources, Wentz not listening to his coaches not wanting to run same offense has Foles man they should had dug more into that. Do you wanna hear a crazy story from a war veteran? I met Carson Wentz personally, and he refused to shake my hand when I thanked him for the SB run because he didn't play in it. He didn't care how the run had helped me with my PTSD from 2 tours in Iraq or that I was suicidal because I got in a crazy accident, too. I couldn't play the guitar anymore and went through a crazy rehab. They told me I'd never play the same again or could I get surgery at first, but miracles happened, I got the surgery in time before anything set, and play much better than before, but thats a whole another story. So, getting back to the story, I battled back to become an even better guitar player, and it happened a little before he got hurt. I told him that and how their run helped me remember who I was as a vet, and the team and I healed together. And how my golden retriever used to sing with me on stage. He made fun of my service dog, smirked at me, then pfft up at me, made a getaway from me face or else, turned his back on me, and stopped signing autographs for the children. Sproles isn't lying, he was a self-absorbed fake jerk who only cared about himself. It took every ounce of restraint, self-control, integrity, in my body and soul, not to jump over the gate, start pounding him in the face relentlessly, and dealing with the consequences after.
