I could listen to Stewart Copeland play the drums forever. So good, even (especially?) when he's screwing around, trying to figure it out.

This was on YT up until about 3 or years ago, glad to finally hear it again. Love how they break into a jam that basically became flexible strategies.

Fascinating!! I really wish the Police would release more rarities and include studio session demos like this. We all know that there is a lot of stuff they could release.

This is an amazing recording. Thanks Darren. I’m a huge Police fan, saw them live from early years on. Never heard this before and can’t thank you enough.

Darren I was reading some of the comments below. Is the audio from this available for download. Once again, much appreciated. Man, I love me some Police. I saw them from My Father’s Place on Long Island, Capitol Theater in Passaic till the end at Shea Stadium. Great memories here. Thanks.

You can tell this began the foundations of the sound they would develop for the Synchronicity album.

This is great.....the session music is so revealing. Wish they would show up at NOLA Jazz Fest and jam for 2 hours with no hit music played.....they would kill it

The jam beginning around 14:41 should be titled Turn Off the Fuckin' Tape Machine by The Police. Re-master it with voice and brass and that's a cool song.

No wonder why Stewart Copeland wanted to speed everything up. This is less than half speed. The version at 19:12 is not bad as that is probably half speed kind of groovy thing.

Recording a B-side probably for ELTSDIM Andy was right they were ruining a perfectly good song. Sting likes to revisit his songs and that's fine they are his compositions but he's not always the best parent for his kids if you like.

Fantastic! Do you have other Police recording sessions? Also, Rick Beato just did a video about the original Every Breath You Take multitrack, including a vocal guide track with completely different lyrics, you might find it interesting

I can't paste the video in this comment but Google "Rick Beato": he's a US-based producer with a KZbin channel named after him. His last video is called "What makes this song great? Live!! The Police 2" and he goes in depth in the multitrack of EBYT, studying every part including the vocal guide track

Do you have any idea when and where that version of Truth Hits Everybody is from at the end? It clearly sounds live but every other version I've heard is always at the standard punk tempo... it also doesn't sound like it's from the reunion tours or Sting solo either.

In '81 on the Ghost tour they played at the Nashville in London to fan club members only. It MIGHT be that gig but don't quote me.

Andy Summers is the main part of the band and Stewart. Gordon is just a jumped-up turd, a real obnoxious piece of work, and disappeared into his own arse, his solo stuff was crap, Andy was a great session musician and Stewart went onto do some great movie and tv themes.. Much more memorable and stood the test of time more so that Sting's solo work.
