Well, Darren. Didn't know whether to laugh or cry. What conditions! I didn't perceive it as dangerous. It seemed that the worst that could happen would be to get totally wet and you had already said that the car was nearby. In spite of everything, you got some good shots. I liked the first swirly-water-around-the-rock shot.

GUYS, PLEASE READ THIS! Based on a few of the comments it seems you were concerned for my safety (bless you), but let me explain. I probably had enough footage to make 2 videos from that one shoot, but as the audio was so poor, I had to loose 90% of the video shot that day and settle with 1 video. Even with only one video, it was heavily edited due to the audio quality. If I could have shown you the un-edited version, you would have seen me talk about how unsafe the opposite end of the beach was and how I wasn’t comfortable in shooting at the far end (which I didn’t venture to). You would have also seen me talk about how close I was to the ramp (where you enter and exit the beach) and when the wave crashed over my boots, it looked liked I was trapped, but I was only a minutes walk to the ramp, with a good 8-10ft of beach untouched by tide. When I say “I’m getting cut off” 8-10ft is getting cut off to me (even though it’s only a minutes walk) Please understand I’d never put myself at serious risk for a photo or video, I love my family far to much to do anything so silly. Again, it was all down to restricted editing. Now with regards to the out takes, you’ll notice in most of the clips I wasn’t wearing my head torch, that’s because those clips were shot a good hour and 1/2 after hide tide. When I walked through the foam, the tide was receding, but I still didn’t feel safe and so I turned back (you never saw that in the video) Again, please do not think I don’t respect the sea or the danger it can bring with it. If you guys follow my channel on a regular basis, you’d know my personality by now and you’d know I’m not a risk taker (watch my video “know when to quit” or next weeks video at Pin Mill, where I get nervous in 8” inches of water) 😂 Anyway, thanks for watching and for your continued support, but I’m now off to the pub. Have a great weekend everyone Cheers 🍺🍺

Great vlog as expected. The occasional audio issues are a reality in situations like this and it doesn’t ruin the video so no worries. I hate getting wet but I would have risked it as you did in order to get those images. Really loved those shots at the beginning with the receding tide and the shots around 5:05-5:20 are brilliant. Thanks for including “foamgate”! 😊 Cheers, mate.

You are officially bonkers Darren !! Firstly the tidal thing - if you ever have to shoot the Severn Estuary that 5 mins you spoke of would be about 1 min, be warned !! :) Loved the sequence of images as you were leaving the beach. You had already lost the vlogging camera to windy conditions so it was highly plausible that it could happen again - I would have taken that as a warning.. glad to know that the camera gear hopefully survived that tumble - I have killed a camera and a couple of lenses in my time so know how you fell. pmsl at the Foam Party outro - classic stuff :)

Hugely enjoyable vlog Darren, and great images in trying conditions. You mention a change of tripod to get spikey feet, I have the same one as you (Manfrotto 055 carbon I think) and I've purchased their spkes to replace the rubber feet. They're ok, but the spikes are a bit shorter than I'd have liked but they have helped. Thanks for your continuing inspiration from a grateful "Trooper"

@@DarrenKnightPhoto The spikes do help yes, but they only extend 1(one)cm from the rubber collar they have. they help me, but in your situation I don't think they'd be anywhere near as good as those you can get for the 3 Legged thing tripods for instance.Maybe there are Non Manfrotto spikes you can get which are longer.
