just got venlab-600A after viewing your channel, looking for a very accurate DCV multimeter as I'm doing battery calibration for my balance charger, I'm looking at owon 16b but cannot find in your review vid. Would love to get a good review on that. Thanks

Well, smart meters surely improve. It's at least good for diode testing, continuity and voltage. The resistance measurements aren't the most accurate, but we've seen worse. And having a rechargeable battery is always a plus because of the convenience as well as being less harmful to the ecology. 👍 Can't stress enough how much I like your flashlight luminosity tests. Now I can easily compare all these meters to my work flashlight, which is around 200 lumens in its dimmest setting. You make me a happy man. ❤

Thank you my friend for the suggestion !👍 I think it's a great addition to the testbed ! It's really amazing how the luminosity varies from meter to meter! I believe I still owe you a multimeter? Email me ; netplicity1@gmail.com It's been a hectic spring, so I'm playing catch up ! 😅

Now that is an issue that I see with smart multimeters. One time, shorting the test leads will read 000.0 ohms, the next time you turn it on it would be almost 1 ohm off. Must be the relay. Not working while charging is a safety feature! Imagine zapping your charger with AC mains voltage measurement. Is there a way to set that brightness, at night, man...that would probably be enough for a flashlight!

Good points.. 👍 There's no display brightness setting. It's very bright 🌞 as you say.

Pretty nice looking DMM. I like the size of this device, the inverted and coloured LCD, the standard 4mm-connection for the (goldplated) probes and that it is rechargable. Because it has no current range, I have very little concerns about electrical safety. Maybe some isolation slots and more creepage distances would have been nice to see... But, for sure, not a bad deal for a pretty accurate (and aside from a lacking Ampere range) and versatile meter under 30,-€.

All great points..lots too like here and looks like FNIRSI is putting out some great test instruments! 👍

It is a nice looking instrument and seems to be well thought out. If it has a good mV range, then current measurement can always be achieved with a shunt of a clamp adapter.

You are correct! I think it's still very useful without current but mA would have been awesome 👌

Smart meters have gotten much better, but still seem like gimmicky glitzy cell phone look alikes, dont like having to recharge something and cant use it during charge, even more like a run down cell phone and front screen delicate as a phone too I imagine. Smarts are interesting but still not as durable or accurate in some cases as a traditional form meter made to work in the field on say A/C work or other similar duty. I imagine they will find their place, but it want be working in industrial environments. Always quicker to grab a traditional meter and just turn the knob to a range, not near as much finagling. I have a Kaiweets I like pretty well and its fun to play with but still doesnt seem as handy or serious as the old school heavy duty meters meant for serious work duty----as always just my opinion to each his own.

Nice thing about this SMART meter is the full manual ranging option. I hear ya though and all valid points. I think it's definitely geared toward the enthusiasts or general home/ workbench. I like the form factor but a carry case would have been nice.

Also id think by now they would be trying to rig some kind of stand, one way would be a nice (thick) chrome metal/wire type that fits snug up recessed into the back maybe. I have to say I like the Kaeweets I bought & it works well, its just a different kind of animal far as meters go.

Everything is fine, but not a word about how the screen behaves in direct sunlight. Something tells me that this glossy gloss will burn out my retina.

Not recommended for outdoors as the high contrast display is very susceptible to glare.
