In collaboration with my cousin, Tony Townsend ( / @ttownsend3252 ) we present "Freedom Isn't Free". I arranged this song from a poem Tony wrote about our 5th Great Grandfather Eber Townsend, and his time in the Revolutionary War; a tribute to him and to all the soldiers who served then and now, who fought and died for our freedom, the high price they paid for that. We can't let them down by taking our freedoms for granted. This song is for them and all the descendants of Eber!
All proceeds go to veteran charities!

Several people have been asking, "What happened to Eber T?". Eber was a 17-year-old volunteer in the 7th Regiment of the New York Militia. He was wounded, captured and taken P.O.W. according to several sources including ancestor applications to the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution) and S.A.R. (Sons of the American Revolution). After the War he struggled in life based on several notes and documents passed down from ancestors. He probably experienced PTSD like symptoms as we know them today. Understandable for a 17-year-old kid who had been through such trauma. Through support from his wife, Elizabeth, and his brother-in-law, Samuel Drew, who served with him in the War he lived to be 62 years of age and passed away in 1822. Eber and Samuel Drew were both recognized with a D.A.R. Ceremony at their graves in September 2013. Eber and Elizabeth had three children: Gilbert, Samuel and Hannah.

Darrin hit a home run with this song. Ties a true story from the Revolutionary War to the present day with an awesome arrangement, vocals and video and powerful message.

Wow. I had high hopes for this project Darrin but this turned out 10X better than I could have imagined. You took a few lines and some broad concepts and wrote a great arrangement. The vocals and musicianship are off the charts. The video you had taken down in Nashville with the Revolutionary War actors really adds a nice historical element with the present day shots. Please thank all those Nashville contacts on our behalf. You have some serious talent.
