To exist is to be something, and to be something is to have an identity (the law of identity, A = A). Causality is the law of identity in action. In other words, an entity acts according to its identity. Also, causality occurs in a temporal context. Every cause we observe happens within our presentation of spacetime within the universe. It doesn't seem to make sense to try to ground causality in a being (God) that supposedly dwells in a realm outside of space and time. I don't understand how we can even coherently say "outside the universe" or "before time." "Outside" and "before" are concepts that only make sense within spacetime.

If I have 7 separate explanations for the origin of the universe in front of me, with the god propsition at one end which states that the earth is 6000 years old, and at the other end the current best explanation using the latest scientific findings which state that the earth is 4.5 billion years old. I must WILLINGLY suspend my disbelief in the god proposition in order to accept it. The god proposition does not have the ring of truth. I can rule out god for that reason alone.

And that won't get you one step closer to proving a deity exists. How did DD rule out the perhaps the cosmos in it's entirely is all there is? and the laws of logic, and the laws of nature, are just brute facts of the nature of this cosmos? The Dawkins dodge is classic, "your response isn't jermaine to question". You haven't answered my question, that's the Dawkins dodge. "God is the ground of all being" is an assertion. Darth can't prove, back or demonstrate his bullshit assertion so his argument falls apart at the start. His whole bullshit shtick is all about the other person doesn't have logical reasons to believe there is no god and when you don't give his required answer he can't move on to the next bullet point on his script.

I was looking for a laugh and happened upon this video again. If it wasn't already obvious that Darth/Gary is better at reading a script than he is at actually thinking, watch for just a wee bit starting at the 2:15 mark, where Darth/Gary invokes the colour green as an "absolute" whose meaning hasn't changed for hundreds of years. Assuming that he knows that there are *different shades and tints* of green, and thus no "absolute" standard for what constitutes the colour green, I'm left to conclude that he doesn't understand what an "absolute" is--which is a bit of a problem for a jackass whose entire shtick is based on identifying absolutes (or as he puts it, things that are "fundamental and non-contingent"). What a dope.
