Are you saved friend? If you died tonight will you go to heaven or hell? God Almighty, the Creator was manifest in the flesh. He came into the world to take away the sin of the world. He gave up his own life to save yours. His sacrifice on the cross paid the price for your redemption with his own blood. On the third day he rose from dead and offers the gift of salvation and forgiveness to those that repent and trust in him. This is the Gospel which means the Good News. Those that reject redemption will go to hell. John 1:1-3,10 KJV In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. [10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Isaiah 44:6 KJV Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Revelation 1:17-18 KJV And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: [18] I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death. Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. Acts 4:12 KJV Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. John 5:24 KJV Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Matthew 28:19-20 KJV Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Without knowing it David Prowse became the greatest character actor in history. His movements and mannerisms made the character of Darth Vader imposing and sinister. I always assumed that when Beru said that Luke was just like his father, and Owen answers that that's just what he's afraid of, that was our first hint in the trilogy that Vader was Luke's father. I guess it could have meant that Anakin was killed, and Owen was just afraid that Luke would get himself killed as well if he went away from home.
@razorfett1472 жыл бұрын
It simply implied that originally there was meant to be a relationship between Owen and Anakin which Lucas retconned and threw out when he made the prequels. Neither Owen nor Beru knew Anakin was Darth Vader. Hell....they didnt know ANYTHING about Anakin. They met for all of one day. Certainly not long enough for Owen to have the young Jedi figured out. Ben's remark to Luke about about his uncle having a disagreement with Anakin about his getting involved in [the original] clone wars further cements this fact. None of this dialog makes any sense in the context of the prequels as Lucas presented them. Its just an artifact of an abandoned back story, unfortunately

Not if you're an established actor and you've been kept in the dark about it. That's beyond rude. It undermines the trust between a director and his cast. And they could have just auditioned for an actor that was both tall and had the voice/acting skills to portray the character from the start. It is such a strange story how Vader came to be, eventually having a ton of people playing the part.
@shanez12156 жыл бұрын
FlowerofDissolution My guess is that they thought that if Prowse didn't know, he'd try his best at the gestures and movements, resulting in everything fitting together correctly.
@FlowerofDissolution6 жыл бұрын
My personal guess is that the movie was never expected to be a hit and this guess was counted on. So, they didn't acquire the actors they really needed for the parts. The cast of Star Wars is shaky to say the least, if you think of it as a serious production. Not that I mind the original cast. But, I do understand the criticism from a film perspective as an adult. I think it is endearing and a win in the long run (talking about Luke and Leia), but hardly a calculation they wanted. They didn't expect SW1 to ever become a true trilogy. So, they didn't foresee the problems that occurred during SW3, when suddenly Darth Vader had to be unmasked + had to appear as a ghost.

One story I remember from when I was a kid (I think I read this in one of the Star Wars Fan Club Newsletters, or a science fiction magazine) was that David Prowse was always intended to be the actor who's face would be shown when Vader's helmet was removed at the end of Return of the Jedi, as a reward from Lucas for playing the part behind the mask for those movies. However, Prowse did an interview for a magazine and revealed the entire storyline for Luke's parentage. Lucas, as punishment for Prowse doing that, recast that scene with Sebastian Shaw.

While much of the evolution of Vader I was already aware of, I enjoyed seeing the early draft pics. It goes to show how much movies are a process as opposed to everything being cut and dry. Very nice video. Also - and you probably already know this - but Joseph Campbell's work had a huge influence on Lucas and his development of the story. Lucas became good friends with Campbell, and often discussed with him as to whether or not he was "getting the story right," as he was trying to in part, make a modern myth. Campbell's "the Hero With A Thousand Faces," was an enormous influence on Lucas.
@speedracer20082 жыл бұрын
The 2004 documentary, Star Wars: Empire of Dreams, mentions the influence of Joseph Campbell’s works on the characters George Lucas decided to use in Star Wars, such as the idealistic hero (Luke), cynical antihero (Han Solo), and old mentor (Obi-Wan) archetypes.
@gasaholic472 жыл бұрын
@@speedracer2008 Yes, I've seen it, and read much of Campbell's work. In "The Power of Myth" PBS series with Bill Moyers and Campbell, Campbell offered a lot of praise on Lucas. It's amazing how all of these things got refined and put into their perfect place to resemble what we know today. Don't get me wrong, even if the original draft with all of the McQuarrie art was the Star Wars that got made, it still would have been this awesome, wild, unique thing that I feel would still be very big and iconic, but it seems like some very specific things got refined nicely. Instead of giving the good guy the cyborg parts and just making it this general cyberpunk thing, I like that the idea was refined to the point where he was able to see tragedy in the idea of needing the cyborg parts at all...and that maybe that tragedy should be leant to a father/son fallen from grace story rather than just a fashionable thing for the universe.

I've heard complaints that "Rogue One" didn't have enough Darth Vader. I think those that complained missed the point of his inclusion of the movie completely. The movie was about the small group of Rebels and their exploits. The main villain was Director Krennic, a power hungry science officer. He was put in his place by Grand Moff Tarkin, just to make him look like he was trying to claw his way up the Imperial ladder. Vader put him in his place when he put his hand on his shoulder and asked "Do you feel like you're in charge?" Um...no, wrong movie... Having him show up all of the sudden in his Star Destroyer above Skariff was brutal, blocking the escape of some of the Rebel ships (and having one crash into it). His pursuit of the stolen data tapes onto the Rebel Calamari cruiser and his slaughter of the rebel troops was a great near-end to the movie and a great tie-in to "A New Hope". His importance at the very end of the movie pointed out that he was going to play a much more important role in the continuing saga.

@histguy1016 жыл бұрын
weallbfree It never showed up in the films, but it's in the screenplay, novelization, and a lot of merchandise back then.
@petermanson34756 жыл бұрын
Christus Regnet adding that it's in the Novelizations & Merchandise adds to his critique, in that there wasn't a lot of awe into him being a Sith in the originals. It was in the script drafts, but, does not appear in any of the first 3 films. He is just presented as a Jedi who turned to the dark side of the Force. They didn't give that a name or alternative concept. Adding one takes away from the complexity that a duel faceted aspect of being a Jedi is rather than Jedis vs Siths. This IMHO is one of the many failings of the draft & redraft process in which roles were completely altered before how they appeared in the films themselves, then returning to "prequel"s that never existed and trying to reconstitute things that had been altered. There is very little that's wrong with the continuity of the story in the first 3 films. Continuity became completely messed up with the way the prequels were told, and has since been obliterated by the Disney storylines, both in their advancement of the storyline messing with existing characters, and their back stories.

Peter Manson Star Wars is more than just movies. If you went out an watched Star Wars in the 70's, then picked up the novelization, you would learn Vaders full title: "Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith." If you were a kid, watched the movie, then went out and bought an action figure of him, you would learn his full title. It's not omitted from the movies for any conceptual reasons. It's simply a redundant title, and isn't necessary for the first movies. The Emperor's name is also omitted from the OT, but it's in the novelization for A New Hope. Explaining who the Sith are is necessary in the prequels, as Palpatine is a Sith, and the 3 films depict his rise to power, and his reasons.

@weallbfree Yeah, I think not. But since Lucas already had the vision of how Darth Vader got his suit as early as 1977 (Not kidding, he actually gave an interview to Rolling Stones where he explained the volcano and lava thing) and Rule of Two as early as the third movie, I am pretty sure it was just because of redundancy.
@petermanson34756 жыл бұрын
Christus Regnet the novelizations aren't canon. Yes there's a whole mess of multimedia about Star Wars, but, the overwhelming amount of it wasn't true to Lucas' original vision for the story. Anakin Starkiller turned into Luke Skywalker, not Darth Vader. Darth Vader was already around. So, that whole Darth Vader is Luke's father didn't even exist until after ANH. Then, the prequel story wasn't written until the mid 1990s after the Thrawn Trilogy, and both as a reaction to them and influenced by them. No, the prequel story Lucas told didn't need to include the emphasis on the Sith, Rule of Two, etc. It should've actually been told entirely different, focusing instead on the Mace Windy Feast of the Pleabz and been like KotOR, then Darth Vader should've just taken over and established the Empire, then focused on Luke and his friends growing up on Tatooine and the Starfleet Academy. There was more to it than wasting the story on this stupid Darth Plagueis the Wise crap.

It’s amazing how so many great stories and movies and franchises all seem to have a backstory of not being much of anything. Back to the Future almost never happened too. The fact George wanted Darth Vader to die at the end of A New Hope was just incredible, how the whole movie franchise fitted together is incredible

I always thought the part where Vaders tie fighter just gets flicked out of the trench was hilarious. Still is. Boing. Later! Oh and it's the only scene in all of Star Wars you can see Anakins eyeball under the mask as he is spinning around. When I see that scene now a days I don't think it is as weird as it was as a kid but think "whoa Anakins eyeball!" Ha

Says he was a Jedi-bender...well that stayed "kind of" consistent seeing that Mace Windu had a Purple Lightsaber(Blend of Blue and Red/Light and Dark Side of The Force). It would have been SO INTERESTING if Lucas' Sequel Trilogy had been developed...to get background/story of the Whills.

I met Dave Prowse, talked with him for several minutes and he signed two 8x10 pics for me. I gave one pic to my daughter who's sense lost it , I still have mine prominently displayed in my living room. This was in the early 90s. Dave was very nice and seemed to enjoy our brief chat. RIP Dave Prowse-

I had read that Rogue One was up for numerous re shoots during filming; Disney saying that the film felt too "war" like. This thought always angered me, but now that I know that Kennedy was a main part of that AMAZING and EPIC Darth Vader ending, we cool Disney...we cool.

The new movies are trash. Utter garbage. Insulting to the whole premise of the story, characters, and spirit of a piece of American popculter that people have waited 40 years to see. Ruined and destroyed.

Too each their own. Didn't like Episode 8 much, but liked TFA and Rogue One. Trash seems a bit harsh to me though. Even if you don't agree with the story, the movies are at least decent in and of themselves.

A trilogy could be made about Darth Vader once he is confined to the suit up until Return of the Jedi. It could show what happens during the in-betweens of Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Make sure J.J. Abrahms doesn't direct it and only Gareth Edwards does. It would be awesome to see other versions of Vader's suit. Wouldn't it be cool if he had a version where instead of a cape he had a trench coat, combat-style boots and tactical plate-armor on his chest, arms and legs? For victories he would have very ornate armor just like Medieval kings and knights wore during parades and to impress women to court with. And then he would have very heavy tournament armor as Henry VIII had with interchangeable parts.

*Jesus Ortiz* The Vader lightsaber "hall scene" is the moment in time most fans had been waiting for for decades. The earlier scenes In *Rogue One* of Vader were great but actually seeing our favorite villain in all his ruthlessness was a real treat for us all, and the tie-in of *Rogue One* taking us right up to the opening sequence of *A New Hope*.
