The reason why there is no movie about him, he was extremely modest man and never considered himself a hero of any sort. He even forbade in his will to make a movie about him, remindering that "One For All, All For One", being a combined effort and war always being dirty business, never wanting to see or hear about those type of horrors ever again. "I just only did what I was told to do. Nothing more, nothing less to keep own dear homeland, Finland, in one peace" - Simo Häyhä.

For me as a finn, l think that hole finnish nation was special. Because at that time when russia attached Finland in 1939, we were country of only 3,5 million people. And Russians size were 150 million people. And we still managed to kept our independence. Every finnish man and woman were really brave and fought for their country. We are so proud. 🫡 And every these days finnish person is a child or grandchild of some winter war soldier. Hole nation took a part of it. And this is something what might explaines, why are our willingness to fight for our country so high, even today. 🇫🇮

We all finnish soldiers have basic ability to head shot 300 meters. Even 600 meters. Just with basic rifle rk 7,62. Sharp shooters 2000 meters easly. Simo Häyhä lives in everyone of us.

with finnish it's quite literally as simple as adding brackets to make it IPA, and it 99% of the time works as in absolutely NO shenanigans. Every letter is pronounced the same, no matter the context

Imagine a movie where the protagonist gets 800+ kills meanwhile being a down to earth humble guy 😂
@zannadunstrand6289Ай бұрын
There are multiple movies and songs about this guy! Look into the wiki about him. It’s really a one of a kind story about a war hero, top noch sniper and at the same time a such a kind hearted man! (Also ”häyhä” is pronounced more like ”heyhe” then ”hayhay” 😅)

If you are interested, here's a Finnish documentary about him, which has interviews with him and his family members, peers and also with historians. You will find out that those "trophies" from shooting competitions were spoons. Also, there were more Finns fighting on that front than forty or so, but sometimes there were even less left to keep on fighting in certain places. One Finnish division fought against four Soviet divisions. Estimated 1500 Finns and 8000 Soviets were killed: "The Battle of Kollaa 1939: Finland's Stand Against Overwhelming Odds" and "The White Death (Simo Häyhä) - Winter War Documentary - English Subtitles". If you really want to dive into the subject, here's a video as an introduction about Aarne Juutilainen and a wartime interview with him. He was the company commander on the Kollaa front, which Häyhä fought on. Juutilainen's actions and leadership encapsulated 'The Spirit of Winter War'. The translation on the video isn't perfect and it covers also Juutilainen's events in the Continuation War and the Lapland War and his life after the war: "Pettari Mikkonen MAROKON KAUHU - Kapteeni Aarne Juutilainen" and "Aarne "Marokon kauhu" Juutilainen 19.12.1939 Kollaanjoella (English subtitles)".

According to that rank animation at 3:48 he got eight step rank-jump. At once!? In that time there wasn't those 3rd and 2nd highest ranks in the animation, neither Master Sergeant ("ylivääpeli") nor Military Master ("sotilasmestari"). So I believe that he got "only" six step rank-jump.

There is a song, Sabaton - White Death: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIOsl4qXr9Z8h5o I recommend you watch the movie Sisu. It flirts with some of his legend. And a very good movie!

Well, this peaceful farmer and hunter just had his country invaded and he lost his actual home to the invaders (it was on the wrong side of the front line). He was probably highly motivated to bring them to justice.
