The reason why the following hidden characters were removed: Lorraine Olivia was removed because she appeared nude in Playboy magazine. The NBA thought it would've been inappropriate to have her in this kid-friendly game. Kerri Hoskins (the same reason why Lorraine Olivia was removed) Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden and Reptile were removed, because the NBA did not want NBA Jam associated with such a violent game series like Mortal Kombat. Kongo was removed, because it was looked upon as a racial stereotype (think about it) Elvislicious was taken out, because all things Elvis were copyrighted, which the developers of the game, didn't have the rights for. Grim Reaper was removed, because it was deemed too disturbing for younger players of the game.

I remember reading in Gamepro about the Beastie Boys, or at least MCA, being in Tournament Edition at one point. I also remember back in the day when my now former church would meet at a community center in town before it got its own building. One weekend an event was held where an NBA Jam Tournament Edition cabinet had been placed at the center and was still there that Sunday, so several of us went over and played it after church. I put in the code to play as John Tobias and was part of the winning team. That Sunday was a blast.

FWIW the Arcade1Up NBA JAM version is based on 3.01 ROM -- modded to remove any characters they couldn't get license for. Hoskins and Olivia work on the TE version! Rev 4.0 for TE.

@@Restalgia I confirmed that it works. It's only on Maximum Hangtime and not the original (which is why there is an * next to it). I used revision 1.03. Make sure you put a space between K and Day. He has no record but he still comes up.

I am having trouble unlocking Sal Divita in the SNES and Sega Saturn versions. The SNES code is different on every website, and I tried all the input methods I saw and it didn't work. On the Saturn, you are supposed to hold down L+R while entering the initials DIV, and the birth date Jul 03. I even tried it in slightly different ways and it didn't work in this version either! What the hell am I doing wrong?! Can anyone help???!

Jason Skiles name on the source code is JASON but his PIN is ZER,SEV,TWO,SPC. I tried 0729 and it worked. He's actually in the game. There probably is a PIN for MDOC that I asked you about but it would take time to find it. I'm pretty sure the first two numbers are 20 but the last two could be any combination of 0 to 9 and SPC. If you find it let me know.

I don't believe anyone really knows them. People have gone through the arcade ROMs of all but Showtime to make sure there are no players we don't know about but I don't think they have been able to fish the stats out at this point. I do believe I read they are unique to each player and aren't just the same as the person you are replacing.

For Tournament Edition, they may be using the later version of the ROM which removed a bunch of hidden characters. I have these marked with an asterisk.

Hey everyone I saw Marc Williams MDOC on Arcade1up NBA Hangtime when I played today. I thought he was just on Maximum Hangtime. Does anyone know his name & pin cause 2099 and 2000 do no work.

I checked the source code for you and it's weird. He's listed as MDOC as expected but the PIN is odd. It's listed as TWO,ZER,NUL,NUL . He's the only player with "NUL" in his PIN. I tried 20__ and it still didn't work. Very strange. He's set up as a secret player but looks like he has a non working PIN.

@@teddyy80 For the actual arcade ROM. I tested in MAME. You can play as him in MAME but its listed as "invalid code". The source code was released a few months ago so this just confirms that he's not playable in vanilla Hangtime.

I contacted Codemystics on their message board forum and they haven't hit me back yet. They said a while back the only characters they were forced to take out were PERRY (Matthew Perry), MEDNIK (Cary Mednik), MILLER (Reggie Miller), and GLENNR (Glenn Robinson). It was strange about Mednik because he's the referee and also worked for Midway. Oh well.
