With the Nevarran throne likely being currently warred over or about to be by the noble houses AND MAYBE even the Necromancers themselves (who are rumored to be corrupt and manipulating the royal family line), we could see some noble Mortalitassi necromancers try and go for the throne. I’m curious. My current guess is Emmrich is a noble born mage. It could be possible that part of his story and the general Nevarran storyline is about the battle for the throne, and maybe Emmrich can be installed as the leader or main necromancer agent for the king? Might be interesting. I suspect we will install a new leader there and choose the leader for the crows based on stuff. These sorts of themes go back all the way back to DAO. So yeah it might be interesting if Emmrich, as one of the elders and a respected member of the Mortalitassi, will be a part of it. I don’t think he’d want the mages in control but I could see him flubbering if the noble houses cause chaos. Easy for Rook to give their opinion etc to guide that story arc. Hmmm. I can’t wait to see Nevarra! Emmrich is my second favorite companion we have seen so I’m eager to get to know him!

Yeah, he is in my favs too. That would be interestingm to help with the squirmishes for the throne. Emmrich does seem noble, just the way he holds himself. He views what he does as sacred, from what I gather too. If we have to influence who rules Nevarra and get to choose Emmrich, I think he would approve of that. I could even see him as the type to seek advice from a trusted inner cirlce, Rook being among them. Emmrich would weigh the opinions of those he trusts and wouldn't let it get to his head. He would be calm and collected too in the face of opposition. Or at least I believe.

Though he strikes me as the type to be very involved with his work and wouldn’t be “eager” to take the throne or anything, but would do it out of obligation or perceived “this is the best option” (sort of how I think Lucanis would become FT). I think Emmrich would make an ideal advisor! But installing a MAGE as a king in southern Thedas would be quite a move. I’m not sure how people would respond. Nevarra is sort of set apart, though, existing in a grey limbo between Tevinter and the South. I think Nevarrans generally would accept a mage as king but there would still be upset. I’m really hoping we explore the wrestle for the throne with his story!

The upset might be more with allied kingdoms rather than in Nevarra itself. It would be a politically bold move, would set a precedent to which the Chantry would likely be opposed. Yes, totally out of obligation or concluding it is for the best. Like Lucanis as FT. I'd love to explore choosing either Crow to be FT and how would that affect the romance? Would Lucanis becime resentful or if influence/friendship is high enough, would he accept it despite not agreeing, like Fenris staying with Hawke if you side with the mages when the friendship meter is high enough.

@@DarthShadie it would certainly be grounds for a chantry upset! The only thing I see really being a road block is Emmrich’s age. Nevarra has already had older leaders. They may not be keen to elect another XD I personally think that making him FT would have Lucanis break up with you. Maybe not in the main story but down the road. Becoming FT I think would Harden his heart and he’d either be super “this isn’t appropriate”, “I don’t have time for romance and must continue the family line” or he says eff-it and does whatever he wants XD it’s hard to say. I think context will be everything. I do think he’s better off totally cut from the crows, BUT he could reform them. His story shows his frustrations with their current rules and how he remembers when they were heroes while Illario is “traditional”. Making Lucanis FT may see reform but at the cost of losing him as a LI. Making Illario FT keeps the crows status quo but frees Lucanis to find the life he wants (ideally one of less bloodshed). But it’s all speculation. It’s just my current ponderings.

Yeah. I hope he doesn't break up with us though. I could see an alternate to that in the sense that it strains the relationship, adding more angst before he chooses to defy the rules as FT and reform it. Because his love and devotion to Rook is so strong he doesn't want to lose Rook no matter what and damned be the consequences, he's FT, faked his death or survived if an abomination, he chooses this with Rook. Illario would just continue to flirt with everyone and also defy the rules. hehe
