What happened at 5:45? You can't see a thing anymore? And why is the view so much cropped by picking up some night vision googles?

I don't know, maybe it's a bug, and maybe they didn't take into account that you can have both night vision and invulnerability items at the same time, and they mix both effects until you can't see anything. The HDR, which makes things brighter, doesn't help either I guess.

I'm assuming they are all voxels so that ray tracing can work on the game? How much of the original assets are still used in this outside of the UI?

That they are voxel is for something aesthetic, they do not have to be for ray tracing to work, as can be seen in the ray traced version of the first Doom that exists for now, that everything are sprites as in the original game. About what is left, the maps themselves are the same, they have some added details, but essentially the same. Many textures are the same too, because for some reason only some are parallax.

It would take a long time to accomplish, but I believe all of this could be achieved to a very close parallel with raster graphics. Granted, the lightmaps would take ages to refine. We're trading development time for hardware power here, and I don't think that is the right move.

Nvidia wants ray ttacing since only most expencive gpus can do rt/pt..for lower tier gpus no go..sorry
