Build more resources- the drain on all resources is ever increasing with a growing population and more house building. Surely it doesn’t take a scientist to work that out?

In 1979 the reservoir where I live in PA was the highest anyone had ever seen it. We got so much rain that year, it was incredible! Never even been close to that since. In 1995, it was the lowest anyone had ever seen it. I would go and search for relics in the town that was destroyed in the valley when they were building the damn. These things happen folks. They have ALWAYS happened.

Dartmoor is actually a microclimate which means that most of the time there is rain but these summers are getting to hot. From a lad in Devon.

That last reservoir built in the uk was Carsington in 1991. Over the last 30 years the average rainfall has been around 1170mm per year. This year is no exception. The average highest temperature over the last hundred year is in the 30's. This year has been an exception. In 1991 the uk population was 57.5 million. Today it is 67.5 million The climate isn't the problem. Over population is the problem and not upgrading the water infrastructure to suit the inflation in population. But this narrative will be used to hike water costs
@greengrass9572
@greengrass9572 2 жыл бұрын
But they now give names to wet weather fronts in the UK and they put the word 'storm' before the name. Given that we have had so many 'storms' in the UK recently (oh due to climate change of course) I don't think it will take too long for that reservoir to fill up again. And when we have villages flooding they will tell us that's down to climate change too, but not mention the fact that developers are building on natural flood plains across the country and now the water has nowhere to go.

more droughts and more flooding = climate change. Droughts and flooding are aspects of the climate, and that's changing.

Been living in Devon my whole life and Looking back on the years the reservoir has is like this quite often it is so weird when I walk there often seeing how low it is compared to the winter when it is so full. In the future it is just going to get worse and worse and the residents like myself living on and around the moors are going to struggle through every summer. I remember in 2018 it was very low like this.

@Josh baker We've had a few: "A lack of snow" == dry winter. October tends to yoyo between 139-213mm, but of course it has missed the growing season. TLDR; our aquifers are depleted, next spring - we won't have that much to fall back on. Importing food will be expensive.
