Dartmoor Wild Camp / Lavvu on the Farm 2023

Hello lovely people!!!
I hope you're all ok despite the rubbish weather and dark nights!
I am slowly catching up with my editing although this was filmed back in September so apologies again to anyone who has been waiting for a shoutout but I think I'm just about caught up now!
I absolutely loved taking our eldest son out onto Dartmoor for his first ever wild camp! Despite the weather and it being really cold he loved it and wants to do it again so I am soooo happy! Think he enjoyed getting lots of new gear from me and a few purchased items so he's already building a pretty good kit!
I also hope you enjoyed the little Lavvu on the Farm segment - I was gutted I hadn't filmed enough to put a whole video together but I was so immersed in the whole event and had such a great time with friends and family it was just brilliant! I have got my whole talk on film but not sure whether I will ever share it or not lol!
I really hope you enjoy coming with us on Oscar's first ever wild Dartmoor camp.

Hi Karen, September huh, that seems a while ago now. Lovely to see Oscar with you. Lanshans seem to have a bit of a reputation as being difficult to set up right, did you try adjusting the pole lengths to get it sitting lower? Have a look at “Long Suffering Hiker - Improve a Lanshan 2 Tent?" plenty of tips in that vid. You obviously have an amazingly good imagination when it comes to rock shapes. By the way, did you hear about the bloke that went up to the barmaid and asked for a double entendre………….. she gave him one. Oscar isn’t quite as good at nicking your beer as hubby, but he’s probably had more practice. Great tip with the 50p I’ll certainly use that one, if you have a Trangia you can borrow the simmer ring, or buy one if not. I’ve just discovered they are only £3. Problems with craneflies after your buns? I had one fly up to me and explode in my face, turns out it was a jihadi longlegs. Glad to hear Oscar is a convert, perhaps it with be K&Osgonewild in future!! Cheers Graham

To be honest it didn’t move in the wind so I think it was pitched up pretty well it was just the weather conditions and I should have pitched the doors away from the wind. Never mind, lessons learnt! Check out long suffering hiker video on the lanshan 1 modified. He puts small bungee loops on the doors bringing them much lower to the ground.

Thank you! There are loads of mods you can do for this tent it’s just having the time to do them. At least now I know this can happen so will pitch it side on to the wind in future and may look at the bungees. Thank you for watching and commenting! 🥰
