@bobby33x976 жыл бұрын
"The most amazing intellectual in America today..." Are you F-ing high? This guy is a MORON! Listen to what he is saying, it's among the most vacuous utterance I've ever heard. Larry Summers, then Prez of Harvard basically had this guy thrown out because of a lack of academic achievement. It's amazing how you MORONS on the Left are thunderstruck by IDIOCY!
@robert9ish6 жыл бұрын
vince33x. I think it's a sad thing that you missed what Dr. West said in the time allotted and what he continues to do and say. You can scream your derision from the roof-tops. Who cares? Only you, really. How lonely. I see that you've been "thunderstruck" by the ugly solipsism that you seem to think is so fashionable. I have no religious convictions myself and I'd agree that I don't find Dr. West the "most amazing intellectual in America today". I daresay that he'd agree. That said, I'm inspired by Dr. West's integrity, kindness, and continuing pursuit of scholarship. I think that I can say with certainty that he can speak intelligently on more subjects than you. I'd happily spend my time conversing with him. I wouldn't spend that time listening to your snotty-nosed, sneering bullshit for an hour. I value my time, even if you don't. Obviously, that angers you. Too bad.
@bobby33x976 жыл бұрын
Dumb-ass Robert, this fraud West is a devoted Marxist and Marxism & Nazism & Fascism are ALL THE SAME. Indeed, the Marxists murdered far more people than the fascists/Nazis did - by a factor of at least 12X! And you call this MORON's rant "kindness". You are the absolute personification of Vladimir Lenin's term: USEFUL IDIOT.
@SagesseNoir-rq5hp6 жыл бұрын
I happen to KNOW Cornel West and to have read some of his books. I had discussions debates with him going all the way back to the 1980s when I was a student. West is NOT a "devoted Marxist," but does believe that Marx (like other philosophers) has significant insights as well as weak spots in his interpretation of the social world. Cornel West actually leans more toward Pragmatism and even Christian existentialism than to Marxism. I know this not only from taking with him, but also from reading some of his books and articles--which I am sure you have not done. (i've also written critical review essays on West which have been published). Furthermore, anyone who thinks Marxism and Nazism is the same shows profound ignorance both of history and of the major ideas influencing the world in the past 100--200 years. You view of things is so myopic and ignorant that it boggles the mind. I more informed than you are today when I was in high school.

Sagesse Noir1968. I'd love to spend time with Dr. Cornel West. He continues to live, learn and speak. I'd consider myself fortunate to spend time with him. It's wonderful that you were able to engage conversationally with Dr. West. I enjoy his wisdom and his humour. "The Cornel West Reader" is one of my favourite books, though it was published 18 years ago. I'd love to sit and have a meal with Dr. West and enjoy his company. I'd be proud to call him my friend and my Brother. I think he'd be kind enough. Cheers.

The only reason whites dominate education and other areas is because they are white in a white supremacist society. And only in a white supremacist society could people of European descent with NO accomplishments feel entitled--like vince33x--to belittle the achievements of a Black man vastly superior to themselves in intellectual achievements.
@bobby33x976 жыл бұрын
I find it interesting how many Blacks have gotten so fabulously rich because of Western Civilization's creations: 1) Movies/TV/Entertainment/Music Industry, 2) Hoops, 3) Football, 4) Baseball, 5) the Olympics, etc. What have Blacks created? When Western Man landed on the West Coast of Africa in the 15th Century, they encountered a people who had NOT YET INVENTED the WHEEL! Meanwhile, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris was about 600 years old! I really believe Blacks HATE Whites because of the accomplishments of Western Man - INCLUDING THE ENDING OF THE WORLDWIDE SLAVE TRADE! Blacks=Ingrates.

I think the difference is that some peeps know who the real villains are; others get to discover who is stealing from ALL OF US, including YOU. Have you had a raise lately? Gotten as much education/training that you've needed to live a decent life? If you get sick or injured, will you be able to handle all the bills pouring in or go bankrupt? Can your kids look forward to college? WE are all in the same boat. WE need each other...

Dr. West remains a bold voice in the land where society listens less and less. Not many speakers out there uses the eloquence of the spoken word as he does. I am hopeful Dr. West takes more action towards those in power in the 'Academy' Ivy League that has and continues producing those very people who are guiding American towards more crony capitalism. The 'Empire' he speaks of is orchestrated, managed, and sponsored by Ivy League leaders. Nonetheless, Dr. West, keep on keeping on.

"American may have to come to terms with another wave of the rule of big money, big business, big corporations. American may have to come to terms with the rule of politicians who are very cleverly able to deploy xenophobic appeal and end up trying to convince our fellow citizens to scapegoat the most vulnerable rather than confront the most powerful. I read and heard many of them years ago - Trilling, Bloom, Riesman, Frye, Erdman, Wilson, James Baldwin, Ella, Aretha, Malcolm et alia - and wonder if they've made any difference at all, then or now. The world seems ever more reactionary, ignorant, glib, heartless. I'm only thankful Cornel remembers them and does his best to pass their riches on to us and to the young. Do they read them, dig them, love them the way he does? I can only hope so. He's still giving me new names and stories to look up, look up to, to inspire me and to treasure. Love from London UK.

Thank you for touching on all points so delicately on the Palestinian crisis! And others of course as well. Love you Dr. West.

I love and respect this man of color, Dr. West. He is really an intellectual, well read and balance in his presentations. A very knowledgeable academician. He is indeed full of knowledge and wisdom. A true prophet and very courageous to hit the hammer on the nail to rebuke humanity of our sins and unrighteous deeds no matter who you are in color and social status to repent to follow and walk on the path of truth. Indeed, you are a gem/gift to humanity. Both blacks and whites are guilty before the throne of truth. It takes genuine repentance and unbiase judgment to heal this world of her cancerous diseases and sickness. Let' all learn to stop the blame game and pursue the truth. Love is the truth. Thank you, Dr Cornel West.

My God My God I can sleep, eat and wake with this man speaking in my ear. I have not heard not one word I did not agree with. I feel hope that we all got his jokes! There is more of us than of them 🙏🏽💚

A righteous Man is always ready to say the truth even if it's unpopular and uncomfortable to the ears of the listeners who has been beaten down to subscribed to the popular narrative of lies....Thank you so much Sir for such a Man like you is rare in our days.
