Great video Daniel. This is a subject very close to my heart. As you know I’ve had a nightmare trying to keep my hand straight on drawback. I can do it just fine without a dart in my hand, but as soon as I have a dart in hand the twist is back. I’ve noticed that at the beginning of a throwing session my action is much better, and gets worse the more I throw. I’m hoping it’ll all click one day. Keep up the good work. Love watching your videos mate.

WOW i used to always talk about this after practicing so much noticing what helped me. i'd always tell myself "palm too (the board)" and noticing when i had my fingers placed so the space between them would basically be straight up. thanks for helping me see it in the light

Another fantastic video. This is exactly what I’ve been attempting to work on for a while now. The fingers are really the only thing that touches the darts and it’s so difficult to get that dart to leave even. Great watch, thanks Dan 👏🏻🎯

Wow. This is GOLD. Love your explanation. Normally I so often start with a "1" - A little more open hand make me hit the "20" much easier 🙂

Here's a story about tendonitis and handprints. Two months ago I have won my first tournament with a brand new dart, I had to adjust my grip a bit, but it worked really well. After a couple of weeks, my wrist started to hurt after every throw; I had the same handprint as Dan. What seems to be working now is that I closed up my grip, and I force my handprint to be less twisted, this way I'm not using my wrist as much.

Enjoying the content bro I couldn't explain my grip even if I tried it's so weird I dunno why I am so accurate, I've tried slowing it down and having someone look at my action as I release and even that was puzzling hahaha but it works so can't complain lol but what I will say is at times I've woke up after a long day practice and I've gone to throw and my mind has played tricks with me and I've forgotten how to hold the dart and release the same way I have previous so I have to completely change my throw everything it's so weird luckily this hasn't happened in a few months now but I know it will eventually lol I wish I didn't have that but it must work because as you know I'm the first para darts european champion lol

Thanks for this, something which I had not considered. Just struggle recently with my darts, overthinking/changing things too much, would you ever recommend taking a brief period (a week or so) off from practicing?

I'll sure keep that in the back of my head when I'm at the board in a few minutes. What's your opinion on using smooth barrels in practice to clean up the throw?
@Straightdarts
@Straightdarts 3 ай бұрын
That's could help. You need to learn the amount of pressure to applay with each finger through, and it will be a bit different with your match set. You'll probably need to be a touch softer with a grippy dart. :)
@IntergalacticApeMan
@IntergalacticApeMan 3 ай бұрын
@@Straightdarts A wee bit, yes, but I find since I changed to have the thumb pointing back at me there's a lot of contact surface and I'm rather relaxed in general. It feels more like the smooth barrel isn't as forgiving on being sloppy.
@Straightdarts
@Straightdarts 3 ай бұрын
@@IntergalacticApeMan That makes sense, keep me up to date with how the smooth barrel works. :)

If you're missing left, your hand could be turning right, especially if your elbow is moving sideways.
@SV-ee5lp
@SV-ee5lp 11 күн бұрын
@@Straightdarts And how can I fix that?
@Straightdarts
@Straightdarts 10 күн бұрын
@SV-ee5lp Start by making sure your elbow and shoulder is aligned down the same line you want the dart to fly, so it don't need ti move sideways. The tran the flick everyday and consistently check the alightment, give this a watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmSsiqieitWYhZIsi=5oUMmEMOzhka28zR

Honestly at a point that I am not even sure what my so-called style would be. Currently a 50 to 60 avg player, but I keep changing everytime. Because nothing really feels natural at the moment.
@Straightdarts
@Straightdarts 3 ай бұрын
Sounds like your over changing things. I I bet you wake up some mornings and can't member your throw from the day before? I used to be like that. I'd remember I played well in events but not how is did it. I'd strongly recommend tacking time away from the board until your not thinking about it. Then start again. Build it up slowly and work on one thing at a time. Going backwards ca n be the best way forward, look at Luke Humphries.

@@Straightdarts and you'd be a rich man if someone were to bet against you. Last Wednesday I made it to the semifinal of local ranked event (don't ask me how) and yesterday I couldn't even remember if where I stood at the board, let alone what my A,B,C was of the throw. The only constant is that I grip my darts with two fingers and even that changes from day to day from a knucklegrip to just the tips of my fingers.
@Straightdarts

@ErwinOomen I was there for a long time with left and right arm. Somtimes less is more. Focuse on the throw, not the results. Have a warm-up checklist and build it back up.
