Actually three quarters of the way through his semi final he started to parabola, except the final leg and scraped home . You all need to listen.

Since watching darts for the last 5 years or so,, please Barney, can you finally win something again? Had you at 66/1 in the Premier League to win from an impossible path to the final and you got there, and match darts against MVG , but alas no, missed again.

Mr Rod Harrington, Barney is very tired, he has been using a parabola throw for about 10 years, He is now slipping back into his natural linear throw (not all the time because he doesn't know how he achieves that)! A parabola throw is a lot more strenuous on your body and consistent use when you are hunting for your true throw is very tiring and dangerous. Barney is fairly happy with his form, but the linear throw, although he's using it the majority of the time remains a mystery.to him.

In the second leg of this match, Gary has the darts and is on 50 to check out while RVB is sitting on 179 and (obviously) can't check out on his next throw is Gary is unsuccessful. So why does Gary go 10 D20 instead of 18 D16 here? I can understand 10 D20 if RVB was sitting on ANY checkout number because Gary likes Tops, but 18 D16 is a much better play for Gary if he doesn't take out the 50 since you'd have three darts at a "base two" double.

gynandroidhead it's probably because they throw at 20 more than any other number, at the end of the day, and the double top is not much of an adjustment to their normal treble 20 shot. Beyond that, I think Gary usually goes double top when given the option. It's just a comfort thing.

I am getting that inkling, and once again I appreciate the time people have taken to respond to my question. The thing that will always make darts of this nature challenging is the "trebles for show, doubles for dough" aspect. Weighing the risks on comfort vs. the risks and/or possible mental focus of placing yourself in a position where you can blow a match by having to it uglier doubles like D3.
