@Aging_Casually_Late_Gamer2 жыл бұрын
@Gwwc’mp Éfghœ no. It doesn't. Athism is simply the lack of a belief in a god. No belief is required. Second, when it comes to science it's not as if this is done in secret and they are merely telling us the results. It's pubic domain on what the tests were, what the variables and conditions were. So that it can be tested by other people. Thats the very nature of peer review. Third, if you must personally verify everything yourself and not listen to experts in the field, then EVERYTHING by your definition is "blind faith". History, astrophysics, biology, quantum mechanics, because 1 human cannot possible know and be a expert in everything. You're projecting your own faults onto us. Period. Because science never uses words like "absolute truth". Because we realize that the possibility of something changing is always there.

I read the bibble three times, studied it in depth, tried to twist my mind to conform to its craziness and eventually decided that self-enforced schizophrenia was not a healthy practice. I got a lot more in terms of true wisdom from Plato, Aristotle, Hume, etc. Reading the bibble as an example of ancient literature is a good thing though. Many themes in modern literature are stolen from its whacky pages.

Ehhhh, I can't take Aristotle seriously now that I know he believed the uterus was a wild animal living inside women and that women were defective men born when a man's seed was made to weak by the man being too moist. I know it doesn't have much to do with philosophy but, y'know, when a dude thinks half the human race is controlled by a giant symbiotic animal-organ, I wonder if some of that might not indicate some biases in his philosophy that raises a few eyebrows. (Though he did quote a shitton of others so through his fanboying we know more philosophers, that's always good.) Plato was pretty cool, though, dude worldbuilt a whole ass civilization as social satire on the hubris of Athens and we only know him by his wrestling name.

I grew up watching my grandparents praying to a statue (They are/were devout Buddhist). I knew back then religion was bs.. I tried the "christian" thing when I was a teen (it was due to various reasons - particularly my mental health back then) ----- I didn't mind it because of the community.. But as I got older -- I ended up reverting back to no religion. (I will admit ---- these religious zealots greatly helped with speeding up that "process" -- making it MUCH MUCH easier to decide.. literally decided overnight. It was a very easy decision.) As for my children --- Even during my times as a "believer," I raised them as atheists. I'll never regret that decision. Anyways.. bottom line -- religion is a tool to control & manipulate, as well as regress when needed. *PERIOD* 💯 Love hearing/ watching Aron speak at these events. ❤

Chris Rock summed up "belief" sans evidence perfectly: Guy is in bed with his girlfriend when his wife unexpectedly walks in the door. She starts to go into a rage tantrum. He smiles sweetly and says "Honey, it's nothin' -- she's just a friend!" "'FRIEND'"? his wife screams. "I just saw you having sex with her!" Guy puts his arm around her and says "Sweetheart, who you gonna believe, me or your lyin' eyes?" Religious belief is the need for followers to believe Bronze Age folk tales told by goat-herders instead of their common sense and rational minds. "Lyin' eyes" will always take a back seat to the easy comfort of make-believe.

I'm not into that whole Kneeling, Praying and Songs of Praise nonsense. Frankly, Aron doesn't seem like the kind of guy who expects people to Kiss His Ring anyway. I think Aron could be the Best Satan in Town. Best of all, Aron tells the truth. And I really like truthful things. I can appreciate a well constructed Fantasy such as "The Lord of The Rings".
