Please be careful in teaching. Some people may be here just to accumulate theory and pass the exam. But some have scientific frame of mind to understand and question things. Let me explain your mistake. He failed to explain the mechanism behind variations because genetics was not discovered at that time. However during the same time when Darwin was building up his theroy, Mendal was performing experiments on garden pean plants to study inheritance. No body knew anything about genes in fact Mendal used the term factors to describe them in his experiments. So you gave the false information saying Darwin was not having good knowledge about genetics. How can someone have the knowledge of something which is not discovered yet?
