If you love riffs and runs check out ( privately or publicly) this kid ( teenager??) on the new 2019 Philippines idol show. Blind audition. They just put it on KZbin: “ Lucas Garcia lay me dow” I’m a professional singer and not easily moved but OMG OMG OMG !!!!! riffs and runs to die for!!! The best first audition in all the years of watching the Philippines Idol show! And his low register amazing. And with emotional impact. And not the best acoustics. He rivals Daryl Ong and Sam Smith. His low register as good or better. I predict he will win hands down!!!! A MUST listen. Al

Thats the problem when people try to cover B2M... they overdo the runs and the trills... B2M will forever be the greatest ballad group.

Well, Daryl Ong is not a group - as you noticed. And as an RnB singer, he really 'ran' with those runs on this one - as his way of paying an homage to them. Some , like you, may not like it but there are others, like me, who do. I m entertained by it. Different strokes.

What I don't get is that there are people who listen/watch covers of Boyz II Men songs and act like the relevance of B2M is threatened by these covers. They declare that no one will ever measure up to B2M. We know that and the artists know that. The covers are a tribute to them. There's no need to be defensive and make declarations that B2M is incomparable. We got it. Besides, making a cover exactly mimicking B2M is not a cover, it's an attempt to compete with them while saying 'Hey, we can do it better than you did. We sound the same but we sound fresher.'
