Honestly this trailer more looks like a horror movie trailer , especially the last 15 seconds , like German U boat on the mission meets some kind of depth monster/creature , which is blind and only reacts on noise

I just watched this Director’s cut version of this film which was over 3 hours in length. This wasn’t a good war film, it was a Great War film, perhaps the best I’ve ever seen.

Kinda wish there was a trailer for the almost 5 hour version. Alot of people nail this movie for being boring. Well. Thats the problem it's insanely quiet until the bombs go off. I saw some list that actually had U-571 (a joke) way ahead of this movie :( watched it once and was just laughing away. horrid movie. To me. K19 came close , Harrison tried his best with a German accent, acting was really good. Hunt for Red October. Not entirely a sub movie per se. Alot of it is above ground

Russian accent. but yeah, K-19 was much better than U-571 (though it was better than I thought it'd be but nowhere near as good as it could have been). But not even K-19 comes anywhere near close enough to 'Das Boot'

To place Hollywood pulp like U-571 even in the same list as Das Boot is a total joke (let alone placing it on a higher rank). Almost as ridiculous as the fact that U-571 was awarded with an Oscar while Das Boot wasn't. 🤡 Says a lot about the true value of those awards.

Der Directors Cut ist meiner Meinung nach Mist. Weil viele Szenen völlig den Sinn verlieren und voll aus dem Zusammenhang gerissen werden. Zum Beispiel die Szene in der Kneipe in La Rochelle,speziell das mit Thomsen.
