Incredible detail! Good thing Das Werk sources the production of these kits in mainland China, with its cost-effective mass production system that does not sacrifice details for products such as these models, making them less pricey compared to when these kits w are produced anywhere else. I already ordered the DW Puma. Will definitely order this one too very soon. If the DW will also produce the 1/16 Sdkfz 234 with the PAK 40 gun, then my joy will be complete

While I love the Pak carriers, I'm hoping that Das Werks combines the hull they created for the 234/2 Puma and the gun from this and make the 234/4. And perhaps, they'll also release the 234/1 and 234/3 as well? A very nice collection to have.

Not one I will order, but happy for anything 1/16. I do hope that going forward, DW and all the others stop releasing the same subjects, as the market for 1/16 is never going to be the same as 1/35, so repeated effort will just limit us to what subjects we get. The 251/22 is comparatively rare compared to some other subjects that could be done. And oh, Japanese Type 95...I know, no way, but I can dream...

How difficult are 1/16th scale models? I've built kits in a few scales nothing as big as 1/16th though. I've not touched a model kit in a few years. I have an autoimmune arthritic disease and fibromyalgia both make it hard for me to use my hands for long periods of time.

They are great kits to work with because of the size! The track on the Shermans and M10 might give you a bit of trouble but the plus is they are bigger!

Plastic barrel is because you never know where the molds end up in the future. Or Just a future production run. Might not choose to include a aluminum barrel then. You’ll still have a complete kit, just from injecting plastic.

Hello Andy.. and AHH viewers. I could really use your help. Thanks to this video channel and a few others I have rekindled my model building hobby from when I was a kid, but on a whole other level. Here’s my question/dilemma. I love detail painting. So, when I was younger, I would paint all parts before assembly.. especially engines and suspension parts on cars. Then glop on a bunch of testers orange tube glue and it stuck together. But now, using Tamiya glues, painted parts are difficult. I try gluing small subassemblies and then paint, but I’m still having trouble putting it all together. Andy seems to glue everything first, and then paints, as do others, but how do you get detail painting after assembly. I’d really appreciate guidance. Btw.. I have purchased Al my kits from AHH. Thx

@StevenWedeen: You have to scrape the paint off from the glue surface if you use quick cement like Tamiya. Use a slow bonding plastic cement like Revell contacta you don't need to do this . All this is for water soluble Acrylic paint, the Glue will dissolve the paint and will hold the parts together.

Doesn't look like they are moveable but actually the blurb on the preorder page says 'the steering angle can be represented' which I guess means they can be set at an angle and a close look at the instruction sheet from the first model shows that to be the case.

It would be great if they did a version without all the hidden detail. I have the trumpeter version. It looks just as good, but was easier to build. Many modellers aren't interested in detail that won't be seen.

An amazing kit, love it. But are these 1/16 kits a self fulfilling failure in the making as people run out of space to display them when built? It’s happened in other areas of modelling, like trying to collect every F1 car from each year, and it doesn’t take long before the shelf is full and the collection not complete.

251 has no more power than 250. Being bigger it was always underpowered. Putting a cannon on it doesn't make much sense.

I have the initial Sdkfz 251 release. Unfortunately, the chassis is totally wrong for the D version. Seems the designed used a C version for inspiration. On the D, then number of the bumpers was reduced. Also the lower rear part needs a full rebuild as it has a wrong shape. There’s a lot to fix in this kit, but it’s still nice
