Das Mahavidya refers to the ten forms of the Goddess Durga in Hinduism. These forms are believed to represent the different aspects of the divine feminine energy. Each Mahavidya has her own unique powers and attributes, and devotees worship them for various blessings and protection.
The ten Mahavidyas are Kali, Tara, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Chhinnamasta, Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala. Each Mahavidya is associated with a specific mantra, yantra (a sacred geometric diagram), and ritual practices. Devotees believe that by worshiping these forms of the Goddess, they can attain spiritual growth, wisdom, and protection from negative energies.
The puja of Das Mahavidya is considered a powerful ritual for spiritual progress and fulfillment of desires. To perform the puja, one must first establish a sacred space with a yantra representing the Mahavidya being worshipped. The yantra is then ceremonially bathed with water, flowers, and other offerings while chanting the specific mantra associated with that Mahavidya.
Devotees can also offer various items like fruits, sweets, incense, and flowers to the Mahavidya during the puja. It is important to maintain a pure and focused mind during the worship to connect with the divine energy of the Mahavidya.
To worship Das Mahavidya, one can also meditate on the form and attributes of the chosen Mahavidya to build a personal connection with her. Some practitioners also perform rituals like homa (fire ceremony) and abhishekha (sacred bath) to deepen their connection with the Mahavidya.

प्रकृति की सभी शक्तियों में सारे ब्रह्मांड के मूल में ये दस महाविद्या हैं, जो प्रकृति के कण कण में समाहित हैं। दस महाविद्याओं का संबंध मूलरूप से देवी सती, शिव, पार्वती तथा दक्ष प्रजापति की कथा से है। ये ही नवदुर्गा, चामुण्डा तथा विष्णुप्रिया आदि नामों से पूजित और अर्चित होती हैं।
शास्त्रों और पुराणों में दस महाविद्याओं का वर्णन मिलता है। तंत्र विद्या में दस महाविद्याओं का विशेष महत्व है। महाविद्या का अर्थ महा अर्थात महान्, विशाल, तथा विद्या अर्थात ज्ञान है; दस महाविद्या की उपासना करने से विशेष फल प्राप्त होता है। माँ दुर्गा के ही दशावतार दस महाविद्या है।
दस का सबसे ज्यादा महत्व है, संसार में दस दिशाएं स्पष्ट हैं। इसी तरह 1 से 10 तक के बिना अंकों की गणना संभव नहीं है मान्यता है कि शक्ति के बिना देवाधिदेव शिव भी शव के समान हो जाते हैं। भगवान विष्णु की शक्ति भी इन्हीं में निहित हैं। शक्ति की पूजा शिव के बिना अधूरी मानी जाती है।
इनकी साधना 2 कुलों के रूप में की जाती है ये कुल हैं श्री कुल और काली कुल ।
कुछ ऋषियों ने इन्हें तीन रूपों में माना है। जो उग्र, सौम्य और सौम्य-उग्र है। उग्र में काली, छिन्नमस्ता, धूमावती और बगलामुखी है तथा सौम्य में त्रिपुरसुंदरी, भुवनेश्वरी, मातंगी और कमला है।
महाविद्याएं आदि शक्ति पार्वती का ही रूप मानी जाती हैं। दस महाविद्या विभिन्न दिशाओं की अधिष्ठात्री शक्तियां हैं देवी के वैसे तो अनंत रूप है पर इनमें भी तारा, काली और षोडशी के रूपों की पूजा, भेद रूप में प्रसिद्ध हैं। भगवती के इस संसार में आने के और रूप धारण करने के कारणों की चर्चा मुख्यतः जगत कल्याण, साधक के कार्य, उपासना की सफलता तथा दानवों का नाश करने के लिए हुई है।
