I have the same problem when I drive a 1928 Chevrolet. People don’t realise they’re heading for what they’re staring at. You also get the clowns in an adjacent lane who look at the car and not the road, and drift across into you. They think the horn is “cute” when you honk it at them to get away from you. I really need to run a dashcam in it to catch all the stupid crap it seems to attract, but having a 6V electric system makes that a difficult task unless I wire up a step-up transformer, or perhaps I should just get a GoPro.

99% sure that is staged. Go Pro on the outside of the car makes it look closer than it really is. Low speeds, high visibility, remote road. I'm not buying it

@@commodorenut Most - if not all - consumer-level dashcams operate from a USB power supply, which is 5 volts DC. Since your '28 Chevy is a 6-volt system, you could probably get away with adding a diode inline with the camera's power lead (standard silicon diodes drop 0.7 volts, getting your supply voltage down to 5.3 volts, which should be safe) or you could also wire in an inexpensive 7805 (5-volt voltage regulator) to give you a 5-volt source.

@@dashcamandy2242 mate, you just gave me the biggest facepalm moment! I didn’t even think of the 5V requirement. You’re spot on. That makes it a lot simpler. It runs around 7.2v when driving, so I might use a basic voltage reg module and give it a consistent feed. Actually, I might try one of those cheap surface mount USB sockets that have flying leads on them, and can be hooked up to 12 or 24v (so they obviously have some sort of regulator in them). They’re cheap, and I can see if it works on 6-7V. Thanks for the tip.

@@sop1311 I’m assuming the speed limit is 100, not sure of the road to check and can’t see the signs. But my comment is about them brake checking the dash cam driver, they didn’t do that because they were about to be overtook, they did it because the dash cam driver purposefully dazzled them with the high beams and then exclaimed their children were in the car (despite engaging in road rage behaviour).

Car ahead brake checks when she abandoned her attempt to overtake.. She is entitled to overtake a slow vehicle. The driver who was being overtaken deliberately sped up. I’ve been driving for 45+ years, and I’ve seen plenty of dumb shit over those years, but the level of stupidity theses days is almost beyond comprehension. Up until the last few years I was a rep on the road doing between 1000k to 2000k per week all over Sydney, Central Coast and Hunter region, if I was young and starting now, I don’t think I could do it. The IQ level of this country is surely getting lower and lower as each year goes by, madness!

Mate, my daughter was the opposite, couldn’t wait to get her licence, I started to teach her from 17 (she’s 40 now). The main thing I drummed into her was that you have to think of every other driver on the road as an idiot, expect the unexpected, anticipate where possible, etc. But yes, glad I’m not having to teach a teen to drive today!

I think it's situational awareness on both accounts - maybe the territory had been slow for a while and didn't know the roads, they were 10kms under the limit. Not enough of the bend to see. But the other car should have waited longer before overtaking. Having said that, it was a legal overtake and the territory shouldn't have sped up to stop them. The other car shouldn't have blinded them with the spot lights.

Why am I seeing so many comments on clips that aren't in the video..? A lot of people are talking about a _"vintage car in the first clip"_ but the video starts with a *modern* green car dodging someone reversing out of a driveway. There's also talk of a _"woman with kids in the car, blinding people with high beams"_ at around 6:07 but that clip is of a roundabout during the day, with no sound... What's happening?

But just because someone was saying "keep right" doesn't mean they were a learner. 2. GPS is more accurate than your car's speedo - especially outside cities.

I'm the one who submitted the video at 8:42. I was coming around that roundabout and the lady didn't yield. This road is notorious for people not stopping or looking, I have close calls all the time there. there's 5 roundabouts along that stretch of road and everyone flies through it as that lady did. Everyone was fine, I was a bit shaken and there was a 95-year-old passenger in the other car who probably saw god for a moment but no one was hurt and the cars were both reparable. By the time you realize you're in an accident its already over, scary shit. Pay attention while driving and NEVER MAKE ASSUMPTIONS! Edit: Okay wow people take a low speed accident that I posted as a learning experience way too seriously. I made a mistake in not breaking faster, the lady make a mistake in not checking before going. Shit happens, guys. I reiterate: no one was hurt, the damage was m i n o r. Take it as a reminder to not make assumptions on peoples awareness and move on.

Car ahead brake checks when she abandoned her attempt to overtake.. She is entitled to overtake a slow vehicle. The driver who was being overtaken deliberately sped up. Then when she abandoned her attempt and fell back behind him he deliberately brake checked her, I know which one I would prosecute...him.
