19:50 - whoever is the supervising driver in that learner vehicle needs to have their licence revoked immediately. This learner is clearly incredibly raw without basic driving skills down yet and was about to turn onto a major high speed highway IN THE WRONG DIRECTION without any notice until the car behind honked the hell out of them to get their attention? I have a horrible feeling that this drive ended elsewhere in a horror story.

@jamesscanlon5969Ай бұрын
The camera driver did exactly the right thing: stay belted up, in control of the vehicle. Be patient. It's not you who's holding up traffic. Stay alert and let events unfold. Don't try to take control of the situation unless it's absolutely necessary. I have 'directed traffic' after a car crash. I didn't want to get out of the car I was in - we chanced upon the ugly scene - and I chose to do the traffic thing because I don't like blood and my friend was a nurse, so I ran up the hill and she ran down to the car. (All OK, except the car, and a slight delay along a major highway.) I have done the week-long workplace safety course. Much of the first day is watching videos of people falling off ladders or through plate-glass windows. I think too many people have driving licences who should never have one at all. After watching all these videos, it's obvious that certain individuals can be described as dangerous drivers, and I say they should never be allowed to drive again. I could never have joined the police but I was interested in Crash Investigations. In our brave new world, all these cameras have improved these sciences in unimagined ways. All that chalk, tape measures, and pacing out skidmarks become redundant when the beginning, middle and end are all caught on camera. This case is closed.

@tin2001Ай бұрын
@@tally5k339 Yep. I think the issue is the high hour requirement pushes people to have learners drive on trips they're simply not ready for. 10 hours per month on average. 2.5 hours per week. That's a lot of driving. So many parents just keep giving the kid the keys every time they need to go anywhere further than 5 minutes down the road. They don't think about the conditions or skills. I supervised several people during the 50 hour era, aswell as the current 120 hour. The vast majority (all but one really) were quite capable of solo driving by 30 hours. 2 did their text at only a few minutes over the 50 hours requirement. I personally estimated I had done only about 20 hours driving when I passed my test. I'm not a professional instructor. Just had a lot of friends a bit younger than me, their friends, etc who needed someone to take them driving. Now it's kids of friends, etc. People are too busy sometimes to get those hours in.
@brerobsymАй бұрын
This is not so much a problem of the learner, but is very definitely a problem that the fully licensed driver in the passenger seat has created. They should never have taken the learner anywhere near a road like this until they were confident enough.

@02:01 This is why I don't get how people get to the wrong lane in roundabouts. The shape of the road is built so you go towards the direction you need to go. A roundabout that goes right would have the road on the right side of the roundabout with the road going into it leaning slightly to the right. When you drive towards the wrong direction, it'll be like trying to turn into a very sharp/acute-angled corner. So weird.

Changing lanes and entering roads seems to be a major issue for some people🤔 I failed my first driving test because when I changed lane I didn't allow enough space that the car behind me had to brake (this was an instant fail, not a point deduction). After that, my two friends who drives (I was late 20s) told me two very useful advice: You don't always need to go in front of the other car, you can also go behind them. Try changing lane around 1 km before the turn you need to take. A decade later I also learnt when entering roads, apart from looking left and right quickly, take a slower look for cars that might be hidden under shade (black car passing under a big tree on sunny days) or grey cars on overcast days with no lights on. Someone at work have a matte charcoal Tesla, I'm not looking forward to watching out for this car on the road. Crossing fingers it has DRLs on auto.

Light was orange from the start of the clip and red very shortly after. Which green part were they meant to enter the intersection on?
@inncogneato6341Ай бұрын
@@tin2001I guess he’s talking about when it was actually green. However, the dash cammer has the option to do that, there is no compulsion to do so. If he believes it’s unsafe to do so, he’s free to wait for the next green arrow. Besides, how many times have you seen vehicles get cleaned up by late-coming oncoming traffic (blowing through ambers and reds) while doing as you suggest? Especially when the oncoming traffic is coming thick and fast, as in this video. Couldn’t see around the oncoming turning bus either. The idiot Prado could just as easily gotten cleaned up.
