The blowing rail gives the illusion of forward motion. But the vertical dark stains on the concrete median clearly show the rear truck was completely stopped and was backed into. Without those black vertical stains on the median wall, I would have sworn the rear truck was still moving forward.

for the people who are confused watch from 0:20 to 0:30 you can see that the truck with the dashcam stops moving because the white lane markers stop. despite this the truck in front gets closer. the only logical explanation for this is that the truck in front reversed into him. that or the road itself shrank like a spring lmao. I got confused the first time myself as well though

@MeldinX26 жыл бұрын
LOL what? Why? If it shows what happened without a doubt you can't use that as evidence and you will then get jailed? Even though the cam shows that you are innocent? How does that make any sense?
@ThePC0076 жыл бұрын
@MeldinX2: The reason is privacy. You don't wanna violate the privacy of the person who's actually guilty, do you? Think of all the poor insurance scammers whose privacy would be at risk if it wasn't for this law! No really, I'm happy that they are thinking about changing it. It's ridiculous to not be allowed to prove your innocence in court, as if the entire "guilty until proven innocent" thing wasn't bad enough already.
@MeldinX26 жыл бұрын
Yeah i hope they do change it because that sounds ridiculous.

+ThePC007 I thought it was innocent until proven guilty fam? Sorta like how a cop can bring you in for suspicion but if they don't get anything within 48hours they have to let you go and they can't hold you again unless new evidence appears. It falls under a sub of habius corpus I believe which states you cannot try the same person twice for the same crime.

After over a year driving my company truck in Cleveland, OH I had a near miss with an idiot a week ago that made me make up my mind about getting a dashcam. I work for a fortune 500 company and vehicle accidents are a BIG deal. So much so, that they installed GPS in all our trucks to monitor our driving. The idiot in question did not appreciate me doing the speed limit. After riding my bumper for a mile and laying on his horn for about half a minute, when we passed a speed limit sign I pointed to it and he responded by giving be the bird. Eventually, he passed me in the turning lane up the road and cut me off almost hitting me. If he would have hit me, a dashcam would have made all the difference... It was so damn windy in your video, I couldn't tell that you were even stopped. Good thing the white stripe was visible and wasn't moving so it was obvious that you weren't moving. Stay safe out there!
@Milesco8 жыл бұрын
I seriously question those company policies that require their drivers not to exceed the speed limit by any amount, however small, and without regard to what everyone else is doing. It's actually more dangerous to stick to the speed limit when everyone is going 10 mpg faster. _________________________ Edit: That should, of course, read "10 mph faster."
@spikeblack62458 жыл бұрын
Captain Quirk I'm sorry but my truck goes 20mpg how would i make it go 30mpg to keep up with everyone else?
@Milesco8 жыл бұрын
@ Spike: Heh heh -- oops....that was supposed to be "10 mph faster". A rare mistake for the ol' Captain. ;-) (In my defense, the "g" and "h" keys are right next to each other, and "mpg" is not a misspelled word and therefore doesn't alert my computer's spellcheck function.)
@spikeblack62458 жыл бұрын

This would be considered an optical illusion to those that are lacking common sense. You can blame the rain, wiper blades and the vehicles still traveling. See, the truck WAS moving but then, it stopped. That's when the truck in front rolled back and the white lines? Well, they were stopped ALSO, when the truck was rolling backwards. I had to watch it twice because of all the conflicting comments, but its all there, and it also looked like the driver in the front didn't know he'd done anything.

Why they are driving on middle lane, when right lane is totally empty?
@jmowreader95558 жыл бұрын
The middle lane on a highway that has three is the best lane to be in - people can enter and exit the freeway without trying to work their way around you.

In the US, truck drivers are trained to use the "lane of least resistance" - the lane that will interfere with car traffic the least. On this road, the far-left lane is the "fast lane." Car drivers are going to be traveling 10 to 20 mph (16 km/hr to 32 km/hr) faster than a truck will go, and if you're out there it will piss them off. The far-right lane is the lane the on-ramps and off-ramps are connected to; the people trying to get on and off the freeway don't want to have to deal with your truck. So, you ride in the middle lane and leave the fast lane and the on/off ramp lane to the car drivers. If this was a steep hill, there would be a "truck lane" all the way to the right - they'll build a separate lane just for trucks. It's not common to put exits on big hills, and the truck lane lets the drivers go up the hill as slowly as they're going to anyway. Your question was quite logical: why would they be in the center lane? But as with everything, there's a reason for it.

Alan d I thought about that but that's kinda the magic of this video......to show things are not as they seem. I would hope when a person realized they are wrong they would pull down the thumbs down....but it really isn't that important to me.

Did people really blame you? This is whats wrong with people now a days. They are the most oblivious people known to date. They need to have it pointed out to them than the truck is stationary and rolling backwards. In a world where we give someone in last place a trophy the same as 1st place is the reason we get idiots like this hatin on a guy who did nothing wrong.

TwoFourtysx Silvia It really is a sad state of affairs nowadays. I can't tell you how many times I have watched dashcam crash videos and one vehicle is clearly, beyond all doubt, obviously, 100% at fault and the other vehicle is 100% innocent, a victim. And still at least a third of all comments will target the victim and make up weird fucking arguments why the victim was somehow at fault. I wish people were just trolling, but I honestly don't think they are. I think they are simply completely clueless.

Leroy Hogwash why was he backing up in the first place?
@deepsquat6007 жыл бұрын
I think people are saying you are following too close.. because they cant tell the guy is backing up ..they dont see the white line to the drivers left is NOT moving ..with all the snow/ mist ..it is disorienting

it is not. open your eyes and look. how blind can one be not to see that the white line isn't moving at all. Take the side mirror as a mark.

Having 4 million miles of driving under my belt in my entire lifetime, I knew immediately all that had happened. ●Storm, 50 mph+ winds. ●Traffic ahead stopped. ●Truck did NOT move, saw lines on road holding still. ●Trucker ahead took his foot off brake, coasted backwards into truck, propelled by strong winds. ●Ouch.

they were barley rolling. and stopped . That driver in front had the problem for sure. So stop bad mouthing this guy and take the point of the video. Good thing for dashcams. Sad world we live in. You shouldn't have said anything about the camera and let him lie. It would have been 10 times worse for him.
@a647387 жыл бұрын
The truck driver most likely did not see he was rolling backwards because he was disoriented in the snow. If you don`t look at the white line on the road it looks like the car is the one driving into the truck because of the snow in the wind.

When I first watched the video I was kind of screwed up by the rain. It looked like you were both moving at a pretty fast pace, with you going a little faster, into the back of him. Watching it a second time and paying attention to the road markings showed a completely different story. You're right, he stopped and then backed into you... Good job catching that on video man!
@robertemmons22606 жыл бұрын
After seeing how close the two were together my first instinct was to look at the highway lines, and sure enough you were stopped while the dingle berry in front of you had backed into you.
@KremitDeFrog8 жыл бұрын
Wow, I had to watch this a few times to see the ordeal.. look closely at the lane dashes and you can see what's really going on; use the dash closest to the camera (on the left) for the driver with the camera (possibly Leroy Hogwash?) and use the dash on the right side of the leading rig for a point of reference for the trailer...
