I've seen a lot of people react to this movie, and I think one thing people miss who didn't see this movie around the time it came out (1998) is how big a star Brett Favre (Mary's ex that shows up at the end) was at the time. He had just won the Super Bowl and was the face of the NFL. It was a huge surprise to see that he was the "Brett" they kept referring to throughout the movie.

The Farrely Brothers are so funny. Their other films (Kingpin, Dumb & Dumber, Stuck On You, Shallow Hal, and You, Me, & Irene are all terrificly fun films, and all worth checking out. All are very funny, and have a lot of heart.

It is interesting that the fact that Dasha had no idea who Bret was IRL (how would she?), it really didn't matter at all as far as the movie plot goes. Although it may have seemed strange that he got asked for is autograph. The bathroom scene in the beginning and the fight with little dog later are still funny as heck to me.
