People do it quite often. Not as hard as the police want you to think it is. It also depends on what police jurisdiction is pursuing you, because they all have their own policy on when to activate, and what factors determine whether or not to call a chase off. Here in Nevada, I've seen state Police attempt to initiate a stop, the vehicle or motorcycle just goes full throttle and the cops would turn their lights right off because they know they would have absolutely no chance in even trying to catch up, and it's not worth putting civilians at risk over a speeding ticket. Arkansas State Police on the other hand, they will literally never stop chasing you unless they absolutely can't find you.

This did have a happy ending: The 49-year-old suspect was taken into custody and was transported to North Fulton Hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the crash. The Alpharetta officer was also transported to the hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and later released. Bolling, who was wanted on an aggravated stalking warrant out of Forsyth County and DUI charges from Broward County, Florida, is charged with felony fleeing and eluding, speeding (143 in a 65 mph zone), DUI less safe, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to signal/changing lanes, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to obey traffic control devices and driving while unlicensed.
@Darktrik0014 жыл бұрын
Doesn't appear his sentence was as interesting as his charges as I couldn't find any article on it but he had some other things going on including harassing communication and stalking charges. No bond. But a DUI lawyer in Georgia says it's likely he'd get the full 12 months for the DUI and related chase charges.

Why was there charge for 143 in a 65 (highway charge), instead of 140+ in a 35 in the downtown streets? The speed differential is greater. Ah, doesn’t really matter. Glad no one was seriously injured, but certainly the deputy felt better after the failed PIT to just plow into the guy.

Holy shit, that was a tough ending!! I expected an accident, but not that kind of an accident. Took me by surprise and I did this for a living for 32 years all told. 22 as a sheriff’s investigator and 10 as a firefighter. I found this short article about the incident: -- “An Alpharetta, GA police officer was injured in a crash early Saturday at the end of a high-speed chase that began on southbound Ga. 400, police said. At one point, the driver being pursued was clocked at 143 mph, spokesman Howard Miller said.The suspect was identified as 49-year-old John Bolling, Miller said. Other agencies also were involved in the chase for Bolling, who was taken into custody and charged with DUI and other offenses. The officer was treated for minor injuries at a hospital and released, according to a statement. -- The incident began shortly before 2 a.m. near Old Milton Parkway when an officer’s radar clocked a Mercedes-Benz 300 at 100 mph, Miller said. “The vehicle ... swerved around our officer and slowed to about 65 mph,” Miller said. “We attempted to initiate a traffic stop and as another officer arrived to assist, the Mercedes accelerated to speeds in excess of 143 mph on GA 400.” -- Other charges against Bolling include speeding, reckless driving and driving without a license, Miller said. He also is wanted on an aggravated stalking warrant out of Forsyth County and DUI out of Broward County, Fla. www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/alpharetta-officer-injured-during-high-speed-chase-suspect-held/vckA0m9zLQwrGSgUw9PzXI/

I wonder if the officer would have had an easier time keeping up and less stress/fatigue if he had used a Charger or something similar (ungoverned) at keeping contact? Were the early 1990's Caprices with the 350 engine better than these police vehicles (Explorers or whatever they are) Around here police depts. had Caprices but I think most of them had some kind of performance 305 package in them that was not in the class of the 350

At 13 minutes in this cop is just drag racing, he pulls along side the suspect just to encourage faster speeds. They gotta PIT within 5 or 6 miles or back off, 100 plus mph for 15 or more miles is just a deadly game.

I think the officer avoided impact at the last second with inches to spare, flew by on the left, went to 7-Eleven and got a Slurpee, came back and cuffed the suspect who got a cramp and couldn't move. Either that, or pretended the Mercedes' trunk was a drive thru car wash that takes cars at 75 mph?

More and more people are all ready driving like this, they know all they have to do is get a little squirrly and the cops back off. And if they do get caught or crash, the Cops find out it was just somebody that didn't want to get a ticket.. On another note, if this cop was in the new explorer, he'd be long gone.

jose Navarrete Didn’t have his license plate number at the very beginning, of this has name ,address everything ?what was the point? At those speeds it’s way too dangerous just wait for the guy at his house.
@kellihill58534 жыл бұрын
What if innocent lives would have been lost? They had the plate. A chase like this ended a half a block from out house. The suspects took out a fire hydrant and two concrete pillars which end over ended their vehicle landing inches from a propane refueling station. The area that would have been affected and the loss of life is unthinkable if they had blown that tank.

Wow, that police officer chasing after the crazy driver is an awesome driver! I’m exhausted and almost having a full blown anxiety attack just watching this. I’m guessing the crash happened just after the video cuts off. Did either of them have serious injuries? Is there any video of the crash? Or any updates, since this was 1&1/2 to 2 years ago? Very intense video!
@OrbitFallenAngel3 жыл бұрын
Apparently the Officer was taken to the Hospital and treated for minor injuries and later went home.. The Benz driver was also taken to the Hospital and treated for his injuries sustained in the crash and treated an then taken into Police Custody and charged with a plethora of charges.... Both Officer and Suspect are ok.
